IMA grid charger or bypass anyone?
Hi
I'm noticing degraded IMA performance (mpg) on my 2011 1.339L Nimh hybrid. I can see plenty of discussion on the modification paths for Insights and CR-Zs on the other forums but would be more confident in following a guide if I could find existing posts on here. But my searches are coming up blank. Was the hybrid IMA version just unpopular worldwide hence few users?
Anyway, in case there's anyone out there, I'm thinking of first installing a grid charger to rebalance the cells in the HV battery and then eventually it makes sense to bypass the IMA if/when the performance can't be sustained for longer than a few days of grid charging. The grid charger seems straightforward enough but the details about precise optimal voltages and currents may not be the same as the other Honda forum models. ChatGPT suggests you can actually bypass without an Arduino if you mock the 10 taps on the battery cells with fixed Ohm resistors.

This forum has a lot of US users. The US never got hybrid Fits. Fit EVs were available on lease for a few years in California, but never hybrids. Insights, Civic Hybrids, Accord Hybrids, Clarity Hybrids, even CRV Hybrids... It's like some decision-maker at Honda NA was dancing around their cutest, most practical car, giving it the middle finger. Seriously though, whoever is running US Honda needs to be ejected to Acura.
