I bought the car last Thursday (9/11). She definitely wanted to drive it soon after buying. I think she first drove it on Saturday. People at work have been asking her about it so she drove it in today. I miss it already...it is a lot more fun to drive than our Odyssey...

Question Dealer telling the truth?

I put a deposit down on a Silver MT Sport on 9/2. I was told the car was in CA at the time I placed the order. Today 9/17 I am still being told the car is in CA and that they do not have a VIN yet for me. I am in Louisville, KY and to me it seems like the dealer is probably not being completely straight forward with me. Does any one with any more dealer knowledge know if they could actually be telling the truth?

The VIN is assigned before it leaves Japan, so if it was in the States there'd be no reason for the dealer to not to have access to the VIN if they're after a specific vehicle. Sounds like you're getting a line ... they've probably already committed their supply stream to other customers and are just putting you in queue until the next VIN comes up, which may be several weeks until delivery.

It's probably not written into your sales contract, so you'd have to contact your dealer.

You already have your Fit, right? If so...

Open the driver's door. On the right hand side of the door frame, facing you, is a tag that has weights and such. The top line on that tag has the manufactured date.

If you're still waiting for it, you have to get that date from the dealer, AFAIK, and as mentioned by cruzitude above.

I ordered my 2009 Fit Sport Auto Nav-VSA by phone on 7/31/08.

On August 7 the dealer had the build date, August 22, but not the VIN.

On September 11 dealer had VIN and understanding was car was in transit, due in SE Wisconsin between September 22-24.

anybody here with a build date around 9/12 (mine was) ? I called the dealer yesterday and he said the car was built, but he couldn't tell where it was. worst case scenario: 3 to 4 weeks (after today - so 6 to 7 weeks total).. wouldn't tell me the best case scenario.. i'm getting antsy!

My dealer couldn't tell me much either, until the car arrived at port in Portland. That was about 3 weeks after the build date, so if your car was built on 9/12, the dealer should have some status on it next week. My car is presently on a train somewhere past Chicago, hoping for delivery next week.

Yea. Well hopefully - and by the sound of people who had their car built and delivered in under a month - it get's here soon.

I'm a new member here. My build date was 9/9 for a SSM Fit Sport MT. My dealer gave me the VIN info on Friday and is say I should have it around 10/9. It will be nice to have better mileage and more room on the drive into work.

I've got an SSM MT, and after zipping up and down 4/5 of the power band for 25mi to make sure to seal the rings well, and then driving another 75 mainly highway miles I averaged 38mpg. Subtract one off your car for the "aero" package

Nice, that's my birthday! Check the VIN numbers, and you'll see just how far apart they were. The last 6 numbers of the VIN should be in sequential order as they come off the line.
