09 Fit is an improvement on a good idea

The 09 Fit is the original idea refined. It is 164 Percent stiffer. The comparison between an 09 : 08 is a car : a minivan. Enjoy your old school minivan handling. I want a proper driving car.

Intelligent people are supposed to be OPEN MINDED!
There's NO reason you can't appreciate BOTH! Time moves on and so does Honda!

Yeah, I know. I don't take myself that seriously. Just getting sick and tired of people bitching and fussing how their '08 is sooo much better. Don't dismiss a car if you don't like it. Your opinion about a steering wheel or the color of buttons doesn’t matter to anyone else but yourself. To give an opinion is fine, but to dismiss the vehicle entirely, and continue to post the same thing over and over, doesn't sit well with me. Thi
s is FitFreaks.. we all love Fits!

So true. I've been lurking here for a while now. This is the greatest post ever. I kinda got turned off at all the bickering over the 09. I'm back now. I'm glad I'll be comfy in the 09- section. F the haters.

I call it good timing in my case. If the Fit was unchanged for 09 I would have still bought one. It's a bonus for me that the 2nd gen just happened to come out when I was in the market.

I just sold my 1st generation Subaru WRX in order to make room for the Fit (it was a sad day indeed). I remember not a year after I bought it, 2nd gen came out. Many of the same flame wars back then. I wasn't bitter at all. Truth was, I really liked the old bug eye look my car had. I was in a similar boat as the 07/08ers here.

That being said, I like the looks of the 09 better. And it's hard not to bring up the fact that 100+ are reading this forum while there's less than 10 on the other board.

Everything I have been reading says they softened the suspension in the new Fit for a more comfortable and refined ride. This is reflected in the recent new VS old Fit track challange where the OLD fit beats the new one for lap time. I would be impressed if they stiffened up the chasis a bit over this gen.

As far as calling my car a minivan, well I dare you to keep up

Point being? It's what's new, hate it or love it. Makes sense that it's going to attract more attention and discussion.

Slight update, just ordered my Silver Auto Sport today. Will be here in less than a week! It will be the first silver one within a 100 mile radius of Columbia, SC (yes, I did call every dealer within that radius)

i think it's just silly to separate the forums users into groups of 07-08 and 09 owners. that's like saying my 08 Big Bertha driver out drives the 07. they are both quality.

we all own the FIT, right? just let it be. this whole "unite" thing is elementary. whether we like the styling or not on the newly revamped 09, it is after all a fit. sheesh

I agree, and I can't figure out where to go now. FitFreak is going to die if the mods don't end this split. I just stopped caring about either one. In fact, forget my sticker atticus.

I didn't review it as a minivan. Edmunds did.
First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit

As for keeping up, trying to make a fit "fast" is like polishing a turd.

That's why you buy sports cars for sport, and economy cars for economy. Good luck reaching that 200hp!

Seriously though both fits are a great value, some what fun to drive, and amazingly utilitarian. Oh and damn slow.

Sure you could make 1500hp. I'm serious. If that's how you choose to spend your money good luck! You can be as fast as you can afford in your "economy" car. As long as your having fun I'm happy for you. A word of advice though. Buy a built race car from a guy getting a divorce. Do not attempt to race the fit. It will cost more than it is worth, and not be near as fun as rear wheel drive.
