You can use as small as 14 inch rims if you want.... but you need a hella big tire around.... 175/70/14...

Me too ... the base model GE6 comes standard with 14 inch wheels... looks really out of place on the new Fit since they made the wheel wells larger in the front and rear

I'm not into the bigger is better mentality. Rolling resistance (MPG) and replacement cost must enter into it. I was surprised that the 09 stock sport had 16s. That said like my 08 why would you go backward to 15s? If there's some gas saving strategy at work here then I'd like to hear it. When I replace the tires on my 08 the weight of the tire will be a part of the choice. The weight of the wheel is relevant as well.

If you keep the tire diameter close to stock what will you gain?
In fact the prediction in the tire business is that narrow 15" tires will be reducing in market volume which means they will be more expensive. Your next set of 15" tires may be economical but the next ones won't be.
If weight and economy are your concerns you need to choose narrow tires like 165/65x15 , which precisely the same diameter as 195/55x15 stock 08 tires, or 165/70x15 for the same diameter as 185/55x16's on the 09. The rolling weights are much less and therefore more economical to run but not much fun cornering. Or braking. To each their own.
PS found either of those yet?

IMO, only get smaller wheels if you are DUMPED! I mean seriously lowered.
So low, that there wont be wheel gap even with out overly large tires. It would look hot if you did that
