Hey do the back windows roll all the way down?

Hey i was just wondering if the rear windows roll all the way down so there is no window sticking up at all. My old Yaris did it, so i hope the Fit does it too.

:-( Nope, they do not roll all the way down. At least that is the case w/my 09 Fit, MT w/NAV.

I think this is a safety feature for the US market...I'll bet few if any cars allow one to roll the rear windows down all the way. In case a child sticks some appendage out, they won't get their whole body out, I suppose...

or it could be the fact that the wheel well is there to prevent it from rolling all the way down

maybe, but just a thought. haven't really examined it though

It also has to do with the shape of the rear doors. Most cars have rear doors that the rear, lower portion of the back door follows the arc of the wheel opening. This keeps the door from being a rectangular box that would provide clearance for the window to go down completely.

I know trucks have different safety requirements than passenger cars, but a coworker of mine has an F250 with a back seat and full size rear doors. The windows in his rear doors do go all the way down.

Guess you'll have to get an F250 instead of a Fit.

Non-nav cars have windows that go all the way down. The nav signal is too strong for full exposure to children so the windows stay slightly up to reduce your kids exposure to harmful radiation. Adults are less susceptible to the level of radiation so the front windows go down all the way.

Umm... no. As with most cars, it's because the door isn't big enough to accommodate it (as others have pointed out).

It is a safety issue. My 2001 Sububan's rear windows didn't go all the way down, and the doors were certainly large enough. You can blame lawyers, insurance companies, and probably Ralph Nader for this limitation ...

you're going to have to be a REALLY big kid to get stuck in the smallest of rear windows.

btw, it's because of the shape of the rear door that limits the window.

my 4runner rear windows rolls down all the way.

Yea after looking at some pics the rear doors dont look big enough. Its def not a safety thing cause the Yaris' sedan rolls all the way down.

I'm not sure if there are side-impact door beams in the rear, which could be why they don't roll all the way down as well. I know the front has them so that could probably be o
