Any long drives in your '09 Fit?

I'm interested in a '09 Fit base with automatic. I was wondering if anyone has taken their '09 Fit on a long trip yet and if so did you experience any fatigue? Would the stiffer suspension on a car like this get on your nerves a bit during or at least after a long trip? Any input would be helpful.

Thanks!

I took a 200 miler today, felt pretty good.

I have officially passed the break-in mileage, with 823.

Oh, and, I was pretty comfy the whole time.

22 Miles was on unpaved washboard, THAT was fun. It did shake a bit.

OH Yeah, I should add my avg mpg (dash computer) was 43.2. Woot!

Over 500 miles today...

Cruise was on most of the way, except chicago and milwuakee. Took my friend to drive some EP3's. Averaged 41 mpg. woot! Not really fatigued. idk. much more comfortable than my civic..

What kind of fatigue are we talking about?

It seemed good to me. But my civic was lowered on rims and those tires had a lot of road noise so maybe its just less for me? I also had the radio on. I dont remember hearing any loud wind noises though.

The fatigue I'm referring to is the kind you get after a long drive in a vehicle that has a hard or stiff type suspension. Is the '09 Fit pretty smooth driving on long drives?

I made a trip last week, 250 miles each way and I found the car more comfortable than my 07/08 fits. It was quieter and smoother to me.
It still shifts all the way down to 3rd on steep hills which can be a little suprising as the revs come up quite a bit when you have the cruise set at seventy...
I got 36 miles to the gallon, about 70 miles in town driving and the rest on the highway.

yea, i've only realli had the car for a couple weeks (just got it back from tanabe and off to eibach 2m) but really only drove for a week myself and I'm almost @ 2k miles already! I already made 4 kwik trips to vegas with it and i would say there was fatigue, but it was so comfy that every1 kept knocking out!!! good times...

Do you have a MT or an AT?

Thanks

Aren't there some pretty steep grades that you have to climb from So Cal to Las Vegas? How does your Fit perform on those grades? Does it struggle a lot or does it go pretty smoothly?

I have driven my M/T Fit over 1,500 miles in the 2 weeks I have had it and I have been very pleased. I have done many long trips in there (3-4 hours) and I have never had any fatigue. The driving position is great and the seats are very comfortable. I only notice the stiff suspension when I go over pot holes, rail road tracks, etc.

I think you will be very pleased with the 09 Fit.

I got sick of sitting. Idk about the stiff suspension. After my lowered civic this seems soft and smooth. My friend commented that it was a smooth ride though.

Road Trips

My wife drives our 09 Fit Sport AT nearly 100 miles a day up over the coast range to her work in Florence Oregon. She loves it -- she is more comfortable than in our Chevy TrailBlazer that we traded in and gets about 38mpg to boot! We took a 200 mile trip yesterday and I have to say that I although the suspension is much stiffer than the TrailBlazer I was more comfortable in the Fit. The difference in my opinion is the seats that are much more supportive. I usually find it hard to find a comfortable driving position but the bolsters in the seats of the Fit 'locked' me into a comfortable position. The only thing I that was frustrating was the floor mats were slick from the dealer using Armor All on them -- I found it hard to get my right foot to not slide around when I was using cruise control!!

As for noise, most of the trip yesterday was on I-5 doing about 70 to 75, up and down some pretty good hills. I'd say that the wind noise is quieter than in the TrailBlazer, but the road noise is louder in the Fit. Overall I'd say the Fit is just slightly louder inside. The person who mentioned the downshift into 3rd is right -- it is a little surprising but quieter than I expected. From my experience, you should have nothing to worry about in the comfort/noise department.
