I Owned Both And The 2009 Is Far More Refined

In reality the '07s and '08s will unquestionably be worth less than the '09. Happens will all cars with a new model changeover, and there are very few exceptions to this rule. So, if you're fine with the outgoing model, and budget is an issue, then a previously owned Fit might be the smart way to go. If, after driving both versions, you like the '09 better, and money isn't overly tight, then by all means get the '09. I believe the '09 is improved (i.e., has evolved) in most major areas -- obviously, styling is thoroughly subjective, and beauty's in the eye of the beholder -- and is, as such, a more refined car, it really boils down to what you like better. Good Luck!
I "lost" roughly 2K on trading a 3 week old 2008 but after driving the 2009 and feeling the superior handling qualities, HUGE difference in road noise, improved quality of controls, overall ergonomics, and lastly the resale of a completely new model over one that is almost 10 years old is a no brainer. Just try to unload a 2007 or 2008 in 3 years. They will never hold the value of the new model, period. So I don't feel so badly that I paid to go to the 2009, when I sell or trade in 3-4 years the 2K will come right back in resale value. They are 2 completely different cars with the 2009 naturally being the significantly improved version. Honda DOES NOT redesign a car from the ground up to make it inferior to a 10 year old design!

Hey, your resale logic is totally flawed. The Fit has only been in the US for 3 years now, counting 2009. It is not "almost 10 years old" here. If you like the 2009, great for you. You lost 2K in 3 weeks, don't try to justify that decision by saying your 2008 was "almost 10 years old." That's insane.

Do you have any dyno charts on the real VTEC kickin in? I was wondering what rpms it engages at.

Th fit/jazz design is about 8 years old. Production started in 2001 with designs completed prior to that. You misunderstood the point. She said they don't ground up redesign an old idea to be worse. As for resale I don't think the affect will be that bad. She's just saying when people have the choice between the two she believes most people will choose the improved newer version.

09 has real VTEC and has better engine? This has to be the most ignorant post I've read.

Anyways, to the author of this thread. I would suggest that you buy an 09 Fit. The 09 in my personal opinion is a better package in terms of looks and has more power, also Navi is an option which is not offered in the 07/08. Don't even listen to the GD people that dislike the 09. I have an 08 but I'm happy because its still a good car and features the refresh mode.

i-vtec sohc doesn't necessarily make more power than vtec sohc. the newer engine is just a bit more efficient than the older one. mileage, power differences are not significant.

If you are in the US if doesn't matter that the car design is 5-6 years old elsewhere. REsale is exceptional. I've driven both own a 07 GD3 but do like alot of the new improvements on the GE8. I think arguing over VTEC on a 109-118 hp car ifs funny.

I will probably get an 09 simply because i wanted white and the 07s were nearly impossible to get.

Don't let the numbers fool you. Where the 07-08s run out of steam at 5000 rpms and after, the 09s get their 2nd wind and wind nicely to redline. This means highway passing power is night and day. With the 07-08s I'm running to redline just to adequately pass someone. With the 09s I can leave it in 5th and do the same thing.

Plus, power has been beefed up in the lower and mid range as well.

yea but the VTEC on the 07-08s are not intelligent like the 09s. DUUHHH!! GOSH!

Jokes aside, it's all personal preference IMO.. edit: <--- referring to the threads question between buying a vintage or 09 model, not which model out performs the other, any kind of forced induction would definitely change the odds on both models, I don't think I would race anything w/ a stock fit.

We previously owned an 07 Fit Sport... I just purchased an 09 Fit... I definitely prefer the 09.

Also, they had an 07 on the lot with 47K miles... priced higher than the 09.

very true! for some reason fits, civics, and even Toyotas like the corolla go up in value or at least keep it for a while.
