Should I buy a New 09 Fit or the vintage model?

I have never owned a Fit and am planning to purchase soon but am in no rush.

2 choices - the new 09 Fit, or a vintage 07/08 Fit?

Seeing that there are so many improvements to the new Fit across the board it seems the 09 is an easy choice. But seeing so many 07/08 owners bashing on the 09 maybe I am missing something?

Appearance wise they are a draw for me, the old model looks more simple, basic, and clean. And the 09 looks very similiar, just more agressive. Kind of like the difference between a Sport and Base model 07/08.

Obviously on appearance and other subjective things I will have to decide on my own. Help me out and let me know the hard fact reasons of why I should buy one over the other.

The previous generations will be used and you'll save considerably over the price of a new '09. At the end of the day, both generations are similar.

Ask yourself this: Is the money you save worth the new features and new-car ownership? Drive both back-to-back and you'll be in a better position to decide.

you cant go wrong with either one, but only way to really find out is to test drive each one. I have never driven the previous models but i fell for the 09 after the first test drive.

I wouldn't exactly say that. Maybe if one can be purchased from a private seller for less, but the 07 and 08 haven't lost much value. The Honda dealership I went to to test drive an 09 sport AT Nav for a bit over 19k. They also had an 07 Fit Sport.. Can't remember if it was auto or not.. Anyway, they wanted 19k for it. That doesn't exactly save considerably much.. Or anything at all.

09 has more power lol and better MPG's. The GD's look dated now IMO. Is refresh mode a factor?

I like all of the changes on the '09 except for the increase in size. Hopefully Honda will keep the Fit small and not mess it up like Toyota did with the xB.

09 fixed problems that the 07 - 08 had. The 09 is a better car, if you like to be nostalgic then get the old one. If you want a better improved generation of the Fit the 09 is the one. Don't worry, you are not missing out on anything, I've driven the last gen, it's great but the new gen is just a little better in every way.

All things equal (i.e., price), which they're not, I'm biased towards the '09. This isn't to imply that I'm not fond of the outgoing Fit, which I still believe is an amazing little car and an exceptional value. In reality the '07s and '08s will unquestionably be worth less than the '09. Happens will all cars with a new model changeover, and there are very few exceptions to this rule. So, if you're fine with the outgoing model, and budget is an issue, then a previously owned Fit might be the smart way to go. If, after driving both versions, you like the '09 better, and money isn't overly tight, then by all means get the '09. I believe the '09 is improved (i.e., has evolved) in most major areas -- obviously, styling is thoroughly subjective, and beauty's in the eye of the beholder -- and is, as such, a more refined car, it really boils down to what you like better. Good Luck!

Regular users don't get 60mpg with the 08 for example, you have to work to get that. I think the 09 gets better mileage based on not having to do much at all and getting 40-45mpg no problem, that's better than the 08 from what I have heard.

As far as all the haters for the 09, it's just the looks of the car they don't like, nothing major.

Drive them both and give us your opinion. I love my '09. We are getting 36MPGs in the city! Incredible! I want a road trip so I can see some highway MPG numbers! I know they will be 40+! My guage hovers between 40 to 60 MPG now on the highway!
