Another Canadian Fit

Just took delivery this afternoon. Blue sensation Sport MT. Cargo tray, all-weather mats, 3M, tint, rear shelf, block heater and locking lugs. No doc fee or other sleazeball tricks.

Total for all of the above including GST,freight/PDI, air-cond. excise and tire tax (ie: out-the-door price): $22,350. (MSRP including freight and PDI in Canada is $20,690. Add 5% GST this works out to $21,724.50. This figure does not include the above-mentioned dealer accessories, which (including tax) only cost me an additional $625. Their true retail value elsewhere is over a grand, so this is like getting $400 off MSRP. Not bad for an '09 Fit.

All thanks to forum member FiveFreshFish for tipping me off about Okotoks Honda and their no-nonsense, professional and customer-friendly service. Thanks again, F.F.F. !

If you're in the Calgary area and looking for one of these cars give Okotoks Honda a call. I've heard (and now experienced) nothing but good things about and from them.

I'm not sure if it's the same in your area as it is here, but typically dealers in the outlying areas are more reasonable. Those in the more populated areas (at least in this city) seem to have some cozy little arrangement whereby they try not to step on each other's toes and maximize their profits.

I just checked the Car Cost Canada site for references in the GTA. One of them (from an Oakville customer identified as Trien L.) mentions a dealer by the name of Tony Nhan at Ready Honda in Mississauga. The customer states that Tony always gives his best quote up front, and that his first quote is always better than the others--- after haggling with said "others." He's bought three cars from them so far. Of course, that is a members' forum in which anyone can buy a membership (including car dealers), and the post could have been placed there by the dealer himself, so take it for what it's worth. Or you could try to locate the customer for confirmation beforehand.

Oh, and pics once I figure out how...
