We had our first frost and my TPMS light came on. I checked pressure to find that the tires were about from 30psi to 33psi so I filled all four up to about 40 psi (tire says max 51) and the light went off.

I know the recommended psi is 33 but is it normal for the light to come on at just 30 psi?! Seems a bit sensitive IMO.

Is 40 psi too much?

 

i would recommend that you put the psi at 33 when cold ( i say at first start) honda recommended tire pressure is at 33 for a reason. i honestly dont want to go into anymore details but just put the psi at 33. when driving the psi will climb to at least 33-36 so its safe to put it at 33 which honda recommended. please dont put a higher PSI just to save gas mileage. some people will tell you its better handling. yes at the track they like to run around 40PSi for better steering response and for drag they like to run 15-20psi so that there tires will grip better.

there have been so many post regarding PSI saying the more the better.. PLEASE DONT DO IT just follow what the manual says and your good to go.

 

I took my car and got nitrogen put in all four.Nitrogen doesnt react like air due to temps it stays pretty much the same

A day after I took mine home from the dealer, the tire pressure warning light came on. When I checked it, the cold pressure was 29. I guess the dealer sets it a little low so tset drivers get a comfortable ride. Anyway, I upped the pressure to 35 and I haven't seen a warning light since.

 

My car was driven out of hte dealer lot w/ 25 psi! I finally found that out when the low pressure light came up. really pissed at the dealer. They made me sign off a line that says they had checked the tire pressure as part of the car prep. Total bull. Wonder what else they didn't do.

 

Mine too! But the TPMS didn't come on. I just randomly checked it once. I should probably see if the TPMS works though.

 

The light just came on today. I was driving to work and freaked out, having no clue what it was, so I pulled over (luckily I was still in my apartment complex when I noticed it) and took out my little handy booklet and saw it was tire pressure. I thought it might have to do with the cold but it was still on this afternoon.

When I got home, I checked my tire pressure and three of my tires were 30psi and the front left was slightly lower, probably 29 or so. I haven't filled them up yet to see if the light goes away but it seems kind of sensitive, i agree - isn't the recommended 33psi??

Actually, it may have had something to do with the cold temperatures we suddenly had. Also filled with nitrogen. All the tires were at about 27psi.
