2009 Fit Fuel Eff

Was wondering whos geting big real numbers with the 09's? I have yet to see anyone post a legit high 50 to 60 yet

I know the OEM mpg numbers are bogus so onlt pump gals and odometer data is valid.

Report your best FE here.

PS I have asked a few times. Has anyone found out how you correct the huge errors in the factory mpg meters? Anyone biotch to Honda yet? I would if I had that.

my SGII is dialed in with less than 1% error on my last 3 fillups

heres a short drive I took today:

A/C was on full blast 1/2 of the way
windows cracked for the other half
P&G when possible, but traffic prevented quite a bit of that
coated in neutral down the bigger hills
tires at 41 psi
load: 300lbs
temp: ~70
58 mpg (off the SGII)

my FE could have been in the high 60s if it werent for all the damn traffic and lack of passing lanes (not to mention hills).

There is no way for the driver to correct the gauge. Maybe Honda will come up with a way for the dealer to correct this? I "biotched" about it in my owner survey.

When there are enough owners there will be a class action lawsuit or recall.

I hope that holds for a whole tank. That would be great especially if you are coasting with ICE on.

Yeah, my commute is too hectic for P&G or even much coasting, so it won't hold for a whole tank. Maybe if I had an extra lane. The 58mpg was coasting with ICE on.

Another big problem is that i tend to run alittle late in the mornings.....

Is 09' MPG meter not accurate?

I bought a 09' Sports AT a few weeks ago. The last tank was the first tank I filled up by myself. The MPG meter said 39.9 MPG for last trip, but I drove 339.7 miles and filled the tank up again with (or used) 9.666 gallons. It should be only 35.14 MPG.

I haven't contacted Honda nor finished the survey yet. I sure will bring it up in the survey. I suspected something wrong in the very first tank. I was actually thinking Honda didn't fill up the whole tank the first time. The other thing I was suspecting was the gas station gave me less gas than it said at the pump. Now that I know other people also have this problem. It could be the MPG meter being inaccurate.

I guess I still need to fill up a few more tanks in different gas stations and see if it will be the same, before I am sure and make a complaint.

Welcome to the Form!

I suspect if you want to ready a complaint it would be why Honda has not given anyone the ability to calibrate the fuel Eff gauge. You readings (from what I have seen) are about typical. I doubt you dealer short filled the car.

I'll bet the next tank is also off by 12%

2nd tank filled by myself:
Trip Mileage: 309.3
Gas Used: 9.295 gal
Actual Avg MPG: 33.28
Avg MPG reading: 38.4
Not the same % off, but close.

The dealer happened to call me yesterday. He said their tech people said it happened in CRVs and just asked people/ me not to depend on it. He said it's good to hear that (at least) the actual MPG was better than what the sticker said. He also asked me to mention it to them and see what they would say/ do, if I would go there to do oil change next time .

I am keeping a log over at mpgclean.com but on average, I'm getting 37 mpg. My OEM mpg likes to add a 6 to that so it can't be trusted of course. My highest was 39.4 mpg and mostly all my driving is city. My tires are at 40 psi (which I'll soon inflate once winter is over) and I always DWB, P&G, and DWL whenever I can.

I'd like to see what a MT 2009 Fit gets with steady 55mpg cruse control over a tank.

Can anyone try that?

I could be judging too early but I think the '09 fits gets less mpg compared to the GD3 hypermile it or not. Seeing the posted numbers I feel lucky that I went with the GD3. I went to check out a black '09 sport. Those are good looking and look spacious inside, I just like my GD3 better but when the '09 first came out. I was very interested in it.

I could be wrong!?!?
But looking at my 09 compared to my 07 I am constantly finding all the angles and touches that LOOK anyway more aerodynamic. It is not much more weight. Dont know yet still on my first tank. My maximas and my wifes murano are off on the MPG computer also. They do these simple and cheap! not as sophisticated as a scan guage. It is slightly possible it is optimistic on purpose, people brag about the MPG on the computer and it could be a word of mouth sales tool.

I get around 38mpg average and I drive city and hilly highways. My meter usually reads in the 40's but is of course incorrect.

Since I've been driving to get better mileage I've noticed that my wife drives like a maniac.

Not really, but most drivers look like maniacs next to me driving like the proverbial "old grandma."

Your Jazz should get better km/l after a few thousands km or after few fill ups. Drive conservative, you km/liter should improve. Also if I were you, I would have gone with 1.3 Jazz/Fit. Also, I forgot to add. That km/l indicator on your dash is optimistic. It's not giving the accurate km/l, I would suggest manual computation.

I've got 09' Sports AT for a few months. I usually get between 32-35 MPG (self-calculated) with about 75% highway and 25% city. I got about 39 MPG one time driving out of town with 90% highway & 10% city. I usually drive conservatively.

I wonder, for all of you guys who have gotten higher MPG, what is the psi of your tires? I just have my tires at 33psi, which is recommended psi on the sticker by the driver's door. I have looked at the tires themselves; the max. is 51psi.

You should try the "search" feature. Tons of notes on tire pressure.

You can safely run tire side wall Max pressure and will see no changes except stiffer ride and better mpg.

I run 60psi in my Sport Dunlap's.

Shawn is the high pressure master
