I've had two rattles since I purchased my Fit. Both of which I resolved myself. Ironically, both began to happen around the same time. The upper glove box was rattling a little bit and there was also an odd rattle behind my head unit. Upon removing the top glove box and head unit, found two cables had dropped loose. More than likely due to the subwoofer. Zip tied em to the rest of the cabling and dash housing and I'm rattle free. Well, the license plate still rattles some when the volume is turned up.

i hear quite a bit of rattle coming from the back end, i can't tell what it is though...the frame? the rear axle? it only happens when i go over bumps. This is not normal right?

I would first guess it might be something in the spare tire compartment. Loose jack, tools, etc?

today when i stoped at the first stop sign this morning i heard a loud vibrating rattle from the left most side of the dash area. then it disappeared when the light turned and engined picked up speed. i figure it maybe due to cold weather? i was in a hurry so no time to warm up the car or anything. anyway i didn't hear any such noise/vibration for hte rest of the trip.

Bet it was your antilock brakes engaging. Cold weather=ice on road surface?

no, no ice. i know what anti-lock breaks feel like. this is only near the left side of hte dash top /close to the driver's side window area. the anti-lock breaks will vibrate the car when you slam down the break (but won't make much noise); this thing loudly rattled for the whole half a minute or so while i was waiting for the light to change.

i also encountered rattles caused by sun visor not completely set in the clip, rear license plate w/ only 2 screws, etc. pushing sun visor into the clip and adding extra 2 screws got rid of the rattles. occasionally a few other things i stored in those nooks will rattle too, but most of the time it's been pretty quite.

the problem is that there's little in this car to damp the vibration and smooth the rides. so if you have any loose items it can cause rattling sound.

yeah, my 08 fit is rattling like crazy! when i push on the dash over the gauges it stops a little bit, ive only got 6,000 miles on it. i took it to the dealership and now the rattle is even worse than when i took it. My center air vents broke so in the beginning i thought it was from them but now that they are fixed i have no idea. matter a fact the dealership made it worst. its there now being worked on. any special steps they were supose to take when installing the dash after replacing the air vents?any suggestions? by the way its the sport automatic.

Has anyone had a rattle coming from what sounds like the defroster area? I've got an obnoxious low "thrumming" rattle coming from up there (at least I think its from up there).

I'm thinking about taking it in, but do dealers balk at these warranty complaints (and I'm concerned about an inexperienced tech making the problem worse).

My lower glove box rattles after the car warms up. Tapping on the closed glove box door when cold causes no rattling. But after the car gets warm I can tap on the right side of the closed door and cause the rattling, even with nothing in the glove box. So I have adopted the 'door open' technique once it starts rattling. It appears to be a slight warping of the door face as the temp changes, which leaves a small gap between the right side bumper stop that the closed door normally rests against. At least in my case. I will take a closer look to see if I can adjust it. Otherwise I will have the dealer fix it.

Just to let everyone know I created this thread, Because my glove box rattles like a mo fo. I finally made an appt to get it looked at and fixed. And to not so much suprise. Just like when I brought in my 07si for 3rd gear problem.

The Dealership cant find anything wrong with the glove box, (which i know is bs since a lot of you out there have the same problem out there so i know i am not just making it up)

You took the tech for a drive right? When you did was it making noise then?

I made sure my tech heard the rattle. It was obvious in my case, so at first he tried applying felt strips, but then realized that wasn't going to cut it so he right away ordered a new glove door. I'm rattle-free now.

Rattle? Did some one say rattle.

I just turned 40 so I've been around for a while and have heard a lot of B.S.
My 07 BOMFitSport manufactured 03/06 which is my birth month now has 20,000 mi, regular oil changes, and much pampering by me.
Of all the vehicles I have ever owned this is the first to REALLY DISAPPOINT me.
Front tires are shot, I never had to align any other vehicles by 30,000 unless they pulled.
Rattles like a freezing hooker, c'mon I had 2 6x9s 2 12s and over 1200 watts in my Isuzu Trooper and it rocked your socks off!!! Set car alarms off and took your breath but NEVER RATTLED!!!!!
I put almost 60,000 Mi on my 99 F150 with the 5.4 triton motor running flat out in central Florida back country ON THE SAME SET OF TIRES

I love My FIT but I tell everyone to avoid them like the friggin plague
DOMO ARIGATO HONDA SAN

P.S. My dash sounds like mice humping in bubble wrap. IS That a rattle??

I am curious to how people have fixed this, or any other problems relating to something similar.
try tightening the bolts behind the lever when you open your glove box.

If you have a rattle coming from the trunk, check the contents of the compartment, located on the right side of the trunk.

Rear License Plate Rattle

Not a rattle in our Fit when we got it, but I discovered the dealer only had 28 psi in the tires - not good for MPG!
As soon as I put 36 psi in the (15-inch) tires I got two rattles:
  • One was passenger side rear seat support not latched well (my fault!) - it didn't make a sound with 28 psi!
  • Second was dealer advertising license plate frame on rear! It was warped and rattling on the plate at bottom when I hit a bump. Took it off and noted that Honda has provided for FOUR license plate mounting screws! I found a couple self-tapping screws to fit the lower mounts and now my license plate is nice and flat and cannot rattle. I could even drill a couple holes in the dealer's advertising "frame" and put it back on but why bother??
BTW: Gas Milage went up dramatically with 36 psi tire pressure! Will post to milage forum at next fill-up...

My wife heard one in this area on drivers side of our new '09.

It turned-out to be a big bug trapped in the cup-holder! Apparently the air coming-out the vent above the cup-holder with fan on 3 or 4 was so strong the stupid bug could not get himself turned-over to fly out!

Bet you thought you had everything before this one, eh?
