Biggest gripes so far...
In general I dont like that the MT version needs to rev too high on highways. The sound is horrible. If it had the gear ratio of the AT version that would be better. 6th gear would even be better.
For my fit specific. I dont like that it doesnt have airbags or vsa. If it just had these 3 things then it would be a near perfect car.
But other then the fact that its still an econbox no matter what you do with it, I cant think of any other gripe.

I do have a question regarding those that have a problem with no exterior temp gauge...what exactly are you going to do with the information? How does knowing whether it's 56 degrees or 112 degrees outside help you in any way?
Is this just something that you had in a previous car and feel it should just "be there"? A simple point of curiousity? ("Hey it feels really hot! I wonder what the temp is?") What good does it do you?
Not trying to be a dick/smart ass, just wondering what you "think" you need it for...maybe it's a regional thing? Being from California it's either kind of cold outside, blazing hot or somewhere in between. Knowing exactly which one really doesn't tell me I can "do something about".
Just curious...

Me either...that's why I asked. "AUX and USB can't be run at the same time." isn't all that descriptive...sounded like you wanted to have something playing via AUX...and something via USB...at the same time!
I'm sure you've already tried this to no avail, but in the non-Nav head if you have something plugged in to both AUX and USB, pressing the AUX button toggles between them.

I would really, really like a 6th gear on the MT. I promise the Honda gods that I will shift down on hills and when passing. Other things: Outside temperature gauge and VSA (not here at any cost). I find I don't miss the engine temp. like I thought I would.
As for 4 wheel disks be careful what you wish for. You will spend much less to maintain the drum/disk combo we have then 4 disks. I have a Integra and it goes through rear calipers like candy. On a small car they don't get used enough and they seize up.

my only complaints so far are:
1. no optional cargo cover that cover the entire back with the seats folded down
2. no temp guage
3. no rear disk brakes
4. weird air noise/pressure vacuum problem. I noticed if I'm driving over about 70k with only one window down there is this weird noise/vacuum sensation that me and my dogs ears don't really like. It's easily solved by just cracking any other window but it annoys the hell out of me!

Temp gauge was an easy fix... $8 at Kmart for a Bell Thermometer.
The Vacuum issue is something I've had in every 4 door car I've ever been in. some are worse than others but opening the front windows just a crack solves the issue (and makes it much quieter in the cabin)
Two replies....
I don't understand the "doors need to be closed" before locks can be engaged comment. On my 2010 AT basic all the doors can be locked by pressing the master door lock button while the front driver's side door is wide open. Since I have my Fit's doors setup to unlock whenever I put the AT lever into "P", I do this all the time when exiting the vehicle!

One thing about an exterior temperature gauge that wouldn't be apparent to you in warm climates but is useful for us here in the Great White North. Seeing the exterior temperature gauge dip to the freezing point on a winter day gives you some warning that you may encounter Black Ice on the road. Especially true when the temperatures have been above freezing all day and the roads wet.

I've never had a Honda where you could lock all 4 doors by pressing the inside lock switch. It was a Feature to prevent you from locking your keys in the car. You could manually "force" it by holding open the inside door handle and pressing the lock switch at the same time but I haven't had to do that since I've had keyless entry. (the altima's keyless iKey was the best... couldn't lock the keys in no matter what. - it would beep at you and unlock the doors if your key was still inside)
*********************************************
Huh? -Now that's really strange, because my 2010 AT basic Fit does just that! All I have to do is press the master door lock switch while the driver's door is open, and ALL the locks will snap smartly closed, exactly the same as if I hit the keyless entry lock button! Are you sure you're driving a Fit? -Or do you perhaps have an earlier model than a 2010, that maybe doesn't have this setup in it?
Also although I haven't tested it (and don't intend to either!), I believe there's a safety feature that will not allow this master switch to lock all the doors if the driver's door is open and the key is still in the ignition. (Of course if you leave your keys on the seat then you're shit-outa-luck that way! But hey, -you gotta take some responsibility for not being a moron about this stuff, right?)

although generally happy, i have a few gripes. most of them have been mentioned already so i won't repeat but there is one that i would like to point out that i don't reacall reading yet:
when the car's climate control settings are set to "defog" or to "defog" + "floor heat" the A/C cycles on and off in an attempt to dry the air through dehumidification. although i have no doubt that this works, i would rather just take more time to defog the window and save the energy and wear on the A/C. i live in canada (eh) and during the colder months i normally like to leave my defog constantly running on low for the duration of my trips because it creates a nice basic ambient level of heat. now, in order to save energy, i'll have to switch to the in-your-face center heating or the foot-stinking floor heat because those choices do not engage the A/C.
briefly, the option to disable the A/C cycling on the defog would be nice.

On the 09, F.S.-5MT you can't lock the driver's side door with it open without pulling on the handle. (or closing the door).
Anyone with a 2010 confirm this as well? (also haven't checked to see if this is programmable but I wouldn't think so.
~SB
Actually, it is completely programmable. There are three different lock modes available if i remember correctly, all listed in the owner's manual around the door lock section. Whatever my 09 came standard with was annoying as anything ive ever experienced with locks, so im thankful it let me switch it so when i press lock or unlock once, the driver door function, do it twice, and all 5 doors function. ahhhhhh.

I'm reading page 82 of the electronic manual about the lockout prevention and the locking modes but I see nothing about programming the doors when exiting. What I'm reading says that I can lock the doors manually with the internal switch when leaving the car... but I can't. (and this has been something I am totally used to since my 86 Prelude.) - P82 1st column. P82, 2nd column says I can't do this. I only see how to program the different lock and unlock modes when driving (car auto locks at a certain speed or when put in D, Unlocks when put in P or ignition is turned off, etc...) I see nothing about programming the locking of the car when exiting the vehicle. Am I missing something?

I live in the cold. Most gripes are very understandable.
Mine: I drive the '09 Sport MT... The one spot your hand will ALWAYS BE happens to be in a cold area with no vents. Infuriating. Is there a functional reason behind this oversight?
Only have 1000 miles. The following are oversights that haven't, but could present issues:
No variability in intermittent wipers.
Visor functionality on the sides, gap in the middle.
Overall, some relatively superficial grievances with easy fixes. Fantastic car.

Yeah that! I noticed it also on a Mazda 3 that I rented not too long ago. You have to crack one of the front windows to prevent this from happening.
From the great white north as well - and an exterior temp readout would be nice. The Civics have it, and its simple as a small sensor and some software. A miles remaining readout on the info center would be a good idea as well. I track my mileage, but sometimes its good to see a ballpark figure of how much gas you have left. The front vents are sort of inadequate in really cold weather - and I find I need to keep the LH vent pointed at the window to keep from fogging the side glass.
Next gripe is about the A/C cycling with defrost. A temp cutout would be the obvious choice - I've had my compressor cycling outside when it was below freezing.
The 5th gear ratio is still way high. I know my engine can rev freely, but cruising the freeway at 70mph, I shouldn't be hearing my engine cranking out at 4000RPM. A 6th gear would also be a solution.

So.... I had to test this. Pressed lock on the driver's side door switch with the door open and Voila!, the Driver's door didn't lock. It made the sound like it was going to but the manual switch never moved. so I closed the door and I could re-open it.

I have an 09 5MT and have been regularly using the door switch to lock the doors (including the driver's door) when exiting. I checked again today to make sure I haven't been unknowingly leaving my driver's door unlocked but the door was locked without having to hold open the handle like I did for years with my Civic. Mine is a sport model, if that makes a difference, and I did apply the change to make all doors unlock when turning off the engine as described in one of the threads here. Just to be clear, I stop the engine, remove the key from the ignition, open the driver's door, press the lock all doors button on the door's armrest, exit the car, close the door, and all doors are locked.

Really it's minor stuff that bugs me.
For example, not having a door unlock control on the passenger side. Related to this, I'd love it if the key controls would work when they were in the ignition. It's a pain when I'm running into a store to pick something up and realize that I need to put whatever it is that I'm getting into the trunk. I've got to run around to the driver's side, hit the unlock control and then open the trunk rather than having my passenger hit their unlock button or at a minimum, hit the unlock button on the key.
I wish the auto-unlock/lock options would take into account the parking brake on my MT. What I mean by this is that I wish I could have the car auto unlock when I'm stopped and have the parking brake engaged. Kind of like when you put the car in P on an AT.
I wish the doors would auto-unlock when you tried to open them. On my old car if the passenger tried the door handle while it was in P before the car was turned off the door would unlock and open.
Like many others I wish I had a 6th gear because going over 55 makes it sound like the car is about to fall apart.
Really that's about it. I love the crap out of this little car and the more I drive it the more I enjoy it.

Hey, it's a bitch thread, I just replied to one of these the other day. So since we're all complaining here are my annoyances in no particular order:
1. No pause on CD player (agree with you on that).
2. For the navi the fact I have to first press open to access the CD slot. Why, this is an extra step and it's totally unnecessary. Most navi systems have the CD slot just above the navi screen, the same way it should have been in the Fit.
3. No outside temperature gauge.
4. No moonroof option.
5. Seats that were specifically designed to trap every particle of dirt/hair and not let go!
6. No lumbar support or height adjustment for the front seats.
7. No center console. The Honda OEM is a decent compromise, but no where near the storage of a real center console. However I like it much better than that little flimsy armrest Honda gives you. Well worth the $190 I just spent to upgrade.
8. Tires that are too small (narrow) and in a weird size. Would it have been so hard to make them 205/50's instead of the funky 185/55 size?
9. No 6th gear. This car would be SO much nicer to drive on the highway with a super tall 6th gear, and the gas mileage would be even better than it is already.
10. The weak stock sound system. The sound is good, but it's simply not loud enough and without enough bass to round out the sound. Would it have been so difficult to give us the 270 watt system from the Accord, or even better, the 350 watt system from the Civic SI?
11. Heated exterior mirrors. They get them in Canada, but I guess Honda doesn't think it gets cold enough in the states to warrant them. Really, I would like to make the people responsible for that decision stand outside in their underwear for a couple of hours in Chicago on a nice, windy, cold winter day. You know, when it's -20 degrees with the windchill factor. A few hours in that, and a little frostbite later and I think they would change their tune about the heated mirrors.
12. Speaking of mirrors, where is the option at least for an auto-dimming rear view mirror? Oh yeah, it doesn't exist! I guess Honda thinks Fit owners are not bothered by bright headlights hitting our rear view mirror.
Compromises abound in this car for sure. It's not perfect, but what car is? It's still the best for the price, and I still enjoy driving it every day. I like it for what it is, rather than what it's not. But I must admit, when you go to the Ford website and build a Fiesta you can get all kinds of wonderful options not available with the Fit. The car isn't any more expensive than a Fit either. The big question mark is reliability, but if the Fiesta proves to be as reliable as the rest of the recent Ford lineup has proven to be Honda has a big headache on their hands.

Only had my FIt (DX-A, with MT) for a few weeks now but I can see a few gripes surfacing.
The first is something I could have fixed by spending more and getting the next trim level up. No power locks! I wonder, how much to retrofit? Then again, the idea was to buy an inexpensive car.
The second complaint is the seats. I guess I've been spoiled by the seats in my GTI. I find the cushions too short and wish the seat had an angle adjustment.
Also find the interior lighting to be lacking.
All in all, fairly minor complaints. The lighting issues at least I can address for minimal cost. The locks, we'll see. The seats, expensive.
