On my job, we burn waste motor oil as fuel. Please keep changing your oil too often, keep that cheap fuel coming!

That's probably what my next oil change will be with. You can't go wrong with it. Stick with the 5w-20 oil weight.

I would change the oil since you're already at 5,000. I use Hamp Synergy oil filters.

FWIW (probably not much lol) I usually change my oil between 35 and 40% left on my oil life meter on my Civic Si. For me, this is about 4500-5000 miles. Lots of Highway. Then again, my car revs up to 8K rpm and I do that from time to time...

I figure with the extreme cold that has been fast approaching it's not a bad idea to change my oil out now. I wonder what honda deems "severe" conditions cause it gets easily in the negatives here in the winter...

I've heard you can go down to about 15% on your OLM but I get kinda ancy at 35%... lol.

I'll pick up a few honda filters. 5W-20 for synthetic also? Sorry I'm familar with bmws, my first Honda I'm servicing myself. Normally I use Royal Purple but probably over kill for the fit so probably gonna use mobil 1 synthetic from costco.

Yeah, don't change the weight of the oil. It doesnt matter if its synthetic or dino, keep the weight the same, it will keep the engine running as it was designed to run.

Ha, if they were $3 like every other decent filter, they wouldn't suck so much LOL

haha but really it only takes a little research. just because it is OEM doesn't mean it is the best for your car... of course it isn't the worst either. but you can do much better.

this would be a good place to start.
Oil Filters Revealed

i'm sticking with the purolator pureone filter.

i didn't realize this was a GE thread until now..
these topics are done to death, all it takes is a little bit of searching to find practically all of the answers you need without making thread after thread of the same topic. freakin noobs

I have a 120K mile extended warranty, I use Honda filters, so if I have an engine failure (unlikely), they won't be able to blame it on an aftermarket filter. I do my own oil changes and always use factory filters until the warranty is over.
