I'm definitely going to upgrade to rear discs too. It befuddles me that the fit didn't already come with them. The 70-0 distances are rather embarrassing (and dangerous)!

im doing the rear disc for looks, but i really think if you want more stopping power it would be better if you get better brake pads or get a big brake kit

If and when I do a rear disc conversion, I'll most likely upgrade the fronts with at least better pads and maybe some slotted rotors. If I only upgrade the fronts and not the rears, I worry that it may upset my brake bias.

The European and Asian Fits have rear discs; Americans don't know any better.

Don't blame poor 70-0 braking on the pads, its more a function of the tires. Better pads just enable you to use better tires.
A vivid demo is using stock pads with Dunslops compared to using Hawks with Hoosiers. Keep a hanky handy.

yep, save your money and just upgrade the front pads, fluid, and get better tires. Youll see huge stopping gains.

The rear disc kit, for street use, is mostly bling, same with BBK's

Hmmm... Sounds like some good suggestions. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I definitely want to address that area though! Good stopping is important to me. I don't know if I can resist doing the rears though! I guess my knowing a better technology exists will drive me crazy. Has anyone auto-crossed a fit? Seems like it could be a fun lil autocrosser!! I'll save that for another thread though!

I think painting the rear drums bright red reduces stopping distances by something like 15 feet.
