That....doesn't make any sense. Really, it won't work.

Is it not a computer? It has an operating system. Kubuntu is built for lite applications. Can you please elaborate on how it will not work?

Certainly.................Technically, it is indeed a computer, only it's very restrictive in regards to input. For instance, the current setup only allows MP3's/WMA's/AAC's and the like to be read from an external device (via CD, SD, USB). Sure you can plop an entire ubuntu operating system on a 256mb CD, DVD, SC, or USB device, but the BIOS simply won't allow you to boot from it. Areas of the "computer" which contain the BIOS instructions (the instructions that don't allow you to boot) are ROM based (read-only memory) and cannot be overwritten. There are very few erasable/reprogrammable areas of the system which likely store user generated input data, plus a few other hackable areas which may include the splash screen. However, you wouldn't just be copying down a new .bmp.............it would involve ripping the right group of .bin files from the stock DVD, modifying them in the right order with a third party app, then running a version upgrade sequence within the Honda GUI and hoping you don't brick it in the process.

How disappointing. Are there aftermarket DVD/Nav's available that have a hard drive yet?

My friend has a Dodge Avenger with a screen that can play off of a 20gb hard drive. I think I would like a system that has 1tb, or at least the ability to hold every movie and song I have ever seen or heard.

That is why I posted here, Google fails. I don't understand why car manufacturers don't have the option for a larger drive, they definitely exist and they aren't strapped for space to put it.

Because the bean counters in their accounting department thinks such thing should not exist on "economy" car!
