The eBay vendor "Bling Lights" has a smoke tint spray in a can for about $35.00- says it's enough for several cars. Keep adding coats for darker tint.

personally i would use a vinyl smoked film. If you use a spray its a lot harder to remove if even possible and its a lot easier to mess up the with the spray method than it is vinyl. With a spray method you would need even coats on both lights in order for them to match and have heard that it could make your taillights shine purple at night if done incorrectly. I blacked out taillights on a scion tc once and it came out pretty good. It was my first time too. The vinyl is very forgiving and has a lot of stretch with a little heat for contours. You can buy sheets or even rolls of it at DECALFX.com! Custom Vinyl Graphics, Decals, Stickers, Logos, Lettering, Carbon Fiber Vinyl, Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles for a good price.

That is 3 layers of tint and 2 layers of clear. 1 layer of tint is pretty light.

Here is a pic with everything on. 4-ways, reverse, brake, and headlights

This pic is ONLY headlights. no brake or signals.

There is one from my pic thread where a friend posted up pics of my tails for me.

Just so you know if you go as dark as I did the light doesn't come through during the day very well so you will have to rely mostly on your third brake light during the day.

I mixed a black candy and sprayed that on my lights. i looks good. really dark but can see through very well. it gets darker with the more coats you spray so if you do half the coats i did then it will look like a tint.

So, did you spray the inside of the tail light or the outside? I'm thinking about doing both the front and rear lights on my TW 09.

i sanded with 800 grit and prepped the lens and painted the outside. but it all about the prep. paint needs a clean surface to stick to. If i could figure out how to put pics on here i would show you my process. i took pics a while back.

Good heads-up on the daytime uni-brake. Frankly this alone would be a reason for a cop to pull me over, that and someone rear ending me, one brake is a real issue.

Looks great parked though.

Ya they are kind of dark in the day but i think the law in az is that the lights have to be seen for over 100ft. which you can see. but it still is kind of dark in the day time. I havent been pulled over yet... knock on wood... but i like the way they look. also if you get rear ended its the driver behind you at fault. whether brake lights are working or not. they should have been following so close. but you also dont want your car to be hurt either.
