Windshield question

I have the 09 Sport; windshield has a crack from a rock. I brought the car to an auto glass shop, they ordered the wrong windshield, put the bad one back on and the correct one is being ordered. However, I noticed on the sides and top that the windshield is exposed a bit, I can put my finger below the glass; is this normal or was it covered by rubber? I can't remember.

Thanks,

There is a piece of plastic trim that fits around the windshield. No edge should show.

I'm guessing that they left that off because they were going to replace the windshield anyway. Or perhaps they could not reinstall the original trim. Either way, I'd sure ask 'em.

That blows, new car and already need to get a new windshield. Yeah they probably just left it off until they put the new one in. If I were you, and I'm OCD, haha, make sure they put it together correctly. After they put it back in, I would go to the dealership and compare it.

between the large windshield and the short, raked front end, you wonder how any fit windshield survives.

The windshield is at quite an angle. The more horizontal the angle, the more likely a rock impact will be a glancing blow rather than a direct hit that causes a crack.

I wouldn't be surprised if cracks due to rock impacts aren't all that frequent. I suspect minor crazing and chipping will be pretty common though, due to the size of the windshield.
