Has anyone replaced / removed their shift boot?
Just wondering if anyone has removed and / or replaced their MT shift boot. I'm looking to either a) remove the stock one and have a local shop make a leather one with blue stitching (to match the Honda accessory knob) or b) buy a generic leather boot and re-stitch it in blue to match the knob.
I assume, from looking at the diagram on Majestic's site, that you have to remove the console and a screw to get the boot out? This is an assumption only... and my assumption seems a little weird, as I have never had to remove a whole console to get a shift boot out. It's 25 degrees here, so I'm not about to go starting pulling on plastic to find out, because frozen plastic breaks...
Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes it is secured (stapled) to a ring that is screwed in to the underside of the console. So the only way to get to it is to unmount the console which is quite easy in the GE8 (two tabs in the front and one screw in the rear along with removing the shift knob.)

Thanks for the info guys.
I removed the boot and stopped by the local upholstery shop to get some blue thread - I am going to try to stitch the OEM boot in blue. I did my 04 Sti boot with red stitching and it was super easy - but it already had black exposed stitching so it was an easy task. This boot is going to be tough because I'll have to map out all the holes for the blue thread and thread them all. I'm definitely not that domestic.
I emailed Zeta to get an overall length on their boot - I'm guessing it might be too short? The 09 shifter is pretty tall.
