Edmunds Long Term Blog to get '09 Fit

Just saw today that Edmunds will be getting an '09 Fit that they'll cover in their Long Term Road Test Blog...

The one comment from the poster said that the 09 Fit is just a mid cycle makeover. More evidence of idiots judging purely by appearance and not doing an ounce of research.

2009 Honda Fit Sport Long Term Test

"Every Fit gets four-wheel disc brakes, as only rear drums were available before 2009."
i thought that Fits have rear drums?

and do the rear seats "slide back and forth to increase legroom"?

I want to get the FIT they are looking at because nothing of that is right. My 09 has disk fronts and drum in back. Rear seats are fixed only have the 1 inch decline for comfort... if you call it that. It sounds like the guy writing this article has never seen an 09 FIT.

Yeah, rear disks aren't even available.

Make sure and keep an eye on their blog section for ongoing updates...

The 2009 Honda Fit might be a non-USA model. It could be a European Jazz. The UK Honda site has disk brake on all corners for the Fit.

I just read their article and it seems like they are reading the information off from another source. I do not believe they even have the car to test since the obvious observations of disk breaks and rear seats are false. Read Car and Driver, they know what they are doing.

Yeah I'm interested in the back seat adjustment too. Will have to check my manual when I get home.

With so many errors in the article, it kinda loses some credibility.

"The Fit Sport also includes a steering wheel from the current Honda Civic, which includes stereo controls and a leather-wrapped rim."

this is kinda misleading too, as only the navi steering wheel has the audio controls. they worded it like even non navi Sports get audio controls

How can the worst be better then the best?

Yes, several misreports and typos, which intrigues me.

I was just about to post on the mileage thing and the rear seats. I was like, "huh? The rear seats adjust?"

Also this:

"Take a look at the 2009 Fit's seat bottom (sounds thrilling, doesn't it?). It will look strangely familiar to those who have spent a lot of time in the Honda Accord because it is from the Honda Accord."

What the hell are they talking about here? The seats are definitely NOT the Accord seats. I should know, coming off an 08 Accord.

I think the editor has been smoking something too long.

2009 Honda Fit Sport: Better in every way!

Kids love the new Honda Fit. "Daddy, it's so cute" they say. I can't say I LOVE the new version but I do like it quite a bit. I spent a lot of time with the previous version of the Honda Fit and found it to be just adequate - decent fuel economy, nice interior space but with the expected compromises in terms of noise, harshness and power.
The 2009 version has an even roomier interior, looks more substantial and forces FAR fewer compromises around town and on the highway. The car is clearly more powerful, the transmission feels more precise and, this is a big one, the interior remains surprisingly quiet even at 70 mph and the ride is much more comfortable. Relax people, good fuel economy no longer means earplugs and bruised kidneys - thanks Honda.

Well clearly, they actually have the car.

The Honda haters are out in full force, though.

Thanks for that. I have this rev hang on mine, but only noticeable SOMETIMES when upshifting from 1st to 2nd. I find that if a pause to match the revs it would only result in an abrupt shift engagement. If I disregard the rev hang and shift normally a smooth shift results. So I'm not bothered by it, and luckily this rev hang is nothing compared to what the Civic Si has. That's just wrong.

I test drove both a 5 speed auto sport and 5 speed manual sport navi. As I normally drive a F-150 5 speed manual I did not notice any of the rev hang between gears. I think it is a persnickity comment about a car that appears to be otherwise decent.

If rev hang were causing mechanical problems I might see it as an issue. Perhaps among emissions controls, fuel injection controls and the throttle by wire system design there is something that causes the engine not to drop revs as fast as one might expect. Unless it causes damage to the engine, it is not a problem, at least not to me.

I think auto reviewers are just gripers who would find fault with a perfect sunny day at the beach.
