USDM Headlamps with Back Background?

I was just driving to work and I saw a TF white GE8 drive past and maybe it was just the angle, but the background of the headlamps was black, as seen in the Japanese models, etc.

Can you get these for the UDSM?

Thanks guys!

It was a sport, but as far as I was aware, the US models don't have that style headlamps.

according to a few the JDM headlights are different than the USDM ones...I think you need to get a whole conversion...what that entails Ive no clue...maybe the JDM experts can chime in.

you need to bake the headlights to open it up then paint em and need to remove your bumper off too to remove the headlights.

Yeah sounds like a pain in the ass. It looked like it was straight from the dealership, so I thought it was shipped that way.

I know about the JDM front end conversion, which I would love to do, alas no money to do it

Thanks for the replies guys!

Hey there. To do the black housing headlights on a GE8, not too hard. I've done it on my own car and on another friend's 09 Fit. There are some awesome DIY's for it here, and I'm not even a DIY type of person It's not even expensive ($4 for flat black spray paint, $14 for the 3M windsheild sealant). People have told us it doesn't even look like a DIY. They thought it was either stock or an actual aftermarket headlight.

I found a DIY on the 2007-08 headlights. Is there DIY for the 2009 GE8 headlights on here somewhere? Wanting to go black and need all the help I can get. Thanks

The process is essentially the same for both the GD and GE

you could bake them and spray them or buy the base model headlights because i don't think there are any differences between the two lights besides colour

I'd buy the base model ones. I've done a lot of baking of headlights. Let me tell you, it blows. Getting the resealed right, not breaking them, not getting silicone on the clear housing, it's just not worth it.

I thought it was relatively easy, considering I don't know much about doing DIY's and fixing/tuning cars. I didn't use any silicone to seal it though... I used the bytol based sealing strip from 3M for windshields (about 15' in length, although I didn't use all of it). No mess, just follow the seams of the headlights, put back together, press down, bake for 10 mins at 200 F, and press again to fully seal. No mess at all.

Also, it has been pouring here in L.A. Lots of rain, fog, etc. No water or moisture leaked in

The base model ones are actually gray, not black. But then again, I took a risk by doing this, but thankfully it turned out perfect for my friend and I.
