Just got a new 2009 Fit Sport!!!!
Sorry, but I wanted my own thread.
Anyway, I've been interested in the 2009 for a while, but I was waiting to see if I really wanted the new Honda Insight.
After looking at all the pictures of the Insight and thinking about its price and the comparison to the Fit's handling and performance --- the Fit kept coming out on top. I went to a local dealer recently and looked at Accords, the Civic Hybrid, and the Fit Sport. Of course I like everything about the Fit's design, I just wanted to give the competition a chance.
Yesterday I got the call at work from my dealer that they had a manual tranny for me to drive. I said, "OK, I'll come in sometime tomorrow morning".
Well I had a lot more going on today than a test drive. I've just had a new plasma screen installed at my house and I was getting all the surround sound hooked up. Today after the installer got my plasma hooked on the wall, I went to lunch and then drove over to the dealer to "test drive."
Well, folks I was in love. I read that review in C&D or some other rag that said the M/T was crap and that it was "impossible to shift smoothly."
The 2009 has an ever better M/T than the 2007. Honda has really refined it!
It was smooth as butter! The dealer let me take it on a test drive by myself! I can tell you that this was the car that I wanted. I decided against NAVI, because I can add that later through a Garmin or getting a Pionner CD player. This one was an M/T in Taffeta White!
After driving, I put an AMEX deposit on the car. I told him I didn't want anyone else driving it! Later I crunched all the numbers when I got home.
I decide that I wouldn't get the car if I couldn't get it for $7000 + my 2007 Fit trade in (OTD of course). Well, I called the dealer and told him that.
3 hours later, I wrote a check for $5,488 and 2007 Fit Sport M/T and drove out with a brand new Fit. Did I get cheated? I don't know.
All I know is that I have a BRAND NEW 2009 FIT parked in my garage now!!!
Pictures will follow later, of course.

- Accord -- impractical luxury. Poor gas mileage, high price and just wasn't "fun"
- Civic Hybrid -- great gas mileage BUT outrageous price, terrible handling and driver enjoyment, and I really hated the numeric MPH display and the other instruments. This is something that Honda has to change.
- Fit Sport -- everything I liked about my previous Fit (2007) but some improvements. I really hated the automatic tranny. I prefer a stick in small cars and don't know how to make the most of an AT. So I was on the fence about the 2009 Fit.

I can't say much but I'm really excited!!
The weather has been crappy and I don't think I can drive it around tomorrow. What a bummer!
Anyway, I really like the color and everything. It's nice to know that there are many things in common with the old Fit.

Congrats!!
I was really worried I wasn't going to be able to get a manual transmission in the color I wanted (Storm Silver), but I had no problem at all and am loving it!!!! I was also considering the Civic but the Fit is more fun and I like the styling better (both inside and out)!
