It puzzles me in Sport that the indicator would continue to say '5' if that isn't the gear you're in...
Mahout, I'm not meaning to argue...think I told you before, the A/T guy at a Dodge garage where I worked in my youth was viewed as the Witch Doctor...weird stuff in auto trannies, and weirder now that Hal has a word in it.

There's no argument. We just hunting for truth. As for skepticism,
Yeah, me too. I'm not an auto transmission expert; I'm just 'reading' the diagrams. Note the reading in quotes. It just looks like the rpm change matches 5th to 4th and back. The rpm change wouldn't be so consistent from the locking/unlocking but I really don't know for sure. cheers.

Try one of those Ferrari/Maserati/Merc with 50 ms shifts. Not even Michael Schumacher beat that by his own statement.
Maybe in another 5 years we'll get those.
And the Mitsu Evo X hydraulic shifted manual may already be there for us commoners.

Isn't the VW/Audi/Porsche dual clutch gearbox in that vein? It has a great reputation, and the VW version is almost in the range of what mere mortals can afford.
If it weren't for a small matter that my bride can't manage a third pedal, I'd go back to manual trannies, just because. Love the one in the Jeep, tho' it ain't exactly a thing of beauty. Never felt the need for stringback gloves when driving it....
