My new 09 FitSW

since i couldnt get even one 'congrats' from the team over at my Fit Blog
thread, just wanted to get some luv here.

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...tml#post532638

after hearing about manxman getting a new FitS, i got kinda jealous
and so i got a new 09 Fit Sport (AT) taffeta white for the wife yesterday.
we're loving the car so far.

now i got the best of both worlds.

modded 08 FitSport 5MT (my dd)
stock 09 FitSport 5AT for the wife.

and yes, my cooper-s and G35C are still here. i got rid of the
pos legacywgn, finally.

well, picts are coming later over in my Fit blog thread.

I love Taffeta White!! Congrats! I'm in the same boat. I TOLD my wife she was getting an 09 Fit. We both decided on the Tidewater so I let her feel like she had a little say.

I traded my 2003 Tacoma in on my fit and I'm kinda glad I did. The resale value of trucks is plumiting as we speak. My tacoma was the prerunner V6(not TRD or 4x4) with 58,000 and I only got 11,000 for it. Given it was a Toyota getting 16-20mpg but people just aren't buying gas guzzlers anymore.

Back on topic- Congrats on your purchase. I hope you like it, I do mine!

Congrats Ken! I tried to get one for my wife but didn't like the idea of having two Fits. Although she seems to like the GE better than GD. If it only had a third row seats, my wife would be all over that!

You mean you can't use the cargo net for small children? What could be safer than a child in the trunk in a tied down cargo net?

Kazs, there is one handy way to convince yourself to let go of the Tacoma, while you can still get a halfway decent price for it...

Head over here to the side by side comparison at Fuel Economy:
Side-by-Side Comparison

I did your Tacoma as a six cylinder, and the Fit as a M/T.

Using their default values (you can personalize how many miles you put on the vehicle and the percentage of city/highway driving, as well as the cost of gas yourself for more accuracy), let's look at what we get, in the Tundra vs FIT challenge:

Cost to drive 25 Miles
$2.59
$1.43
Fuel to Drive 25 Miles
1.56 gal
0.86 gal
Annual Fuel Cost*
$1556
$859

What about annual tons of CO2? 11.4 vs. 6.3

Annual Petroleum Consumption? 21.4 barrels vs. 11.8 barrels

EPA Pollution Score? 1 vs. 7 (with 10 being the best, and hybrids running at about 9).

You can switch over to gallons per hundred miles. Tacoma needs about 6.2 gallons to go that far. While the FIT needs about 3.4 gallons.

Remember you have plenty of space to haul if you have to, with TWO FITs in the family. And you can always rent a truck for the day when you absolutely, positively have to haul big cargo.

You get the gas savings now, and you let someone else maintain the trucks at the rental service for you when you need them.

Lastly, you want to do this preferably before the proposed new gas increase hits the stations as it could affect the ability to sell the truck:

" But the state would replace the gas taxes -- and then some -- with a new 39-cents-per-gallon "fee" costing motorists 13 cents more than they currently pay. Fees always can be imposed by a majority vote of the Legislature if they're tied to a specific service. Call this "a highway user fee," Steinberg said. It will all be spent on transportation -- "a legal and logical nexus."
Majority-rule plan could break GOP budget blockade - Los Angeles Times

GREAT!
I've been missing reading your posts. I don't visit the 1st Gen thread anymore since the 2nd Gen came out. You were dependable for solid information and tips.
(And some day I'll pick up some Griot's Hydra Prima.)
So I think were all winners with your new purchase!
Congrats!
