Connecting an HardDrive to USB jack
Connecting an HardDrive to USB jack
Hello, one thing I enjoy the most with my Fit 2009 is to be able to put MP3s directly on an USB stick and play them in my car. I tried to plug a 320GB USB hardrive that take its power directly from the USB (no need to plug a power adapter). My problem is that no songs are found.
Anyone tried to connect a massive storage unit ?
Thank you

I tried something similar with my Pioneer DEHP5000UB. Unfortunately that receiver does not pump out enough juice to power up the drive. In fact, my receiver won't even recognize the drive, even though the power light is on. Crutchfield confirmed for me that a receiver likely will not be able to adequately power a larger external hard drive.
I'm awaiting on a response to a follow up question. Newegg.com sells a 32 and 64GB thumb drive. The 32GB is made by Kingston, has gotten favorable reviews, and is only $55 plus free shipping. My assumption is since there are no discs inside that to spin, it should work just fine. As long as Crutchfield confirms it, I'll be ordering that soon. Yeah, it sucks I can get 250GB for $75, but if my receiver cannot power it, it's pointless. Besides, 32GB should be plenty of room for just about all of my CDs, except for the ones I hate.
