I had a bra on my Honda Van once and I was surprised how there ended up being some small pin like rust areas under it after a few years. Is there a solution to that not happening? At this point, I would not put another bra on another vehicle for that reason.

Bras trap dirt under the fabric. Air pressure moves the fabric around along with the dirt, which scours away small areas of paint. No paint + moisture = rust. Bras are a very bad idea on Fits, or any other car. Eventually there will be a line where the paint has faded on the hood that is exposed to sun, while the paint under the bra will remain unfaded. A better choice would be the OEM Honda Hood Deflector, or the Clear Bra (permanent clear plastic adhesive sheet).

Yes, you have to be very careful with car bras as they can be more trouble than they are worth. Particulates can scratch, moisture can cloud clear coat and over time they can show fade marks. However, they still serve a purpose. You have to use them like a tool when you think the circumstance suffices. If you are traveling on the highway for an extended period of time, or going on a long trip, throw it on and then take it off after. Use it briefly when you feel you are most prone to damage, but never leave it on. Also, only put it on when the surface is clean.

I'm not saying this as an anti-bra person. I own one, but you have to be smart about it.

Sorry dude. I can't claim to know how you used it, but like I said above, car bras require a lot of attention. You can't just leave them on. It's like putting clothing on your car and it needs to be changed. Can you imagine your girl wearing the same VS panties for a week in a row? Yea, totally rank. Same thing with the car bra. If you leave it on it just gets nasty.

I think people end up using them for the wrong things. They are definitely for long trips and are certainly the alternative to this:

The bras are never meant to be left on a vehicle for any length of time and never when it is raining or wet. They are o.k. for long trips but should be removed as soon as possible after. If left on when they get wet underneath they can cause a milky appearance to that portion of the paint.
