Cool What's the deal with the visors?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they are the smallest I've ever had on any car I've owned.

If I've got sun coming in the driver's side window, forget it, it's going to burn my face. The sun has to be right where the window meets the door frame in order to be blocked.

I haven't researched larger replacement visors... maybe I'll just get my windows tinted (don't know if you can with a lease).

That's odd I don't have any issues and I'm rather short, 5'4". I usually don't use the visors though and use sunglasses.

I will have to agree with superfriend here...the visors are fine on the main windshield, but when I try to block the sun coming from the driver side window, no go. The sun will always be right under the visor and like he said, burn my face haha. I'm about 5'8"ish, and I figure if I was closer to 6 I wouldn't have this issue. The simple remedy I can think of is to add one of those add on shades, that you can clip to the visor and it folds down at your leisure. That should help a lot and I've got one lying around somewhere....been meaning to find it and put it on =p

Quite a few people are bothered by the lack of size and movement of the visors. I have heard of people installing larger ones.

I agree as well. In my experience, visors are useless and that's why I didn't purchase them for my car. They're just too small to block any significant amount of sunlight. I would rather spend the money on getting my windows tinted. Ha... visors look kind of cool though.

The visors aren't small, actually; it's the design and shape of the windows and how the visors pivot. The visors kinda pivot upwards when you swing them to the side, hence the lack of coverage.

Design flaw. Tinting the windows helps tons in this regard.

Too bad effective tinting of the windows in the front is illegal in most (if not all) of Canada (I think, at least it is in Alberta). And for good reason, it's a lot safer to know what's going with the drivers and up front in the vehicles, and easier for cops to spot as well.

Yes, I'm new to tinting since all my previous cars had natural tint to the windows, plus I also came from back east where you don't really need tint. So my tint shop said my 35% tint is legal in the front driver and passenger windows, so I had it done. Then I found out it WAS illegal. The front tints absolutely affects visibility at night.

Just get a visor tint done on the car, When you turn it in just hit the tint with a blowdryer to heat up the sticky and peal off. a razor and goo gone take care of the rest. I would try and tint the whole car but it depends on your area if they enforce the driver and passenger window tint. do not do a dark but copy what the new BMW's and Mercedes have. But again you will have to return the lease back to the dealer in the same condition that you got it in.

I agree too that the visors are too small when used on the side. I have my windows tinted and it still bugs. Even when the sun is in front of the car there are big gaps in the hinges and the sun leaks through.

Yep! The visors are a bone of contention. My wife bought some gray (colored) cd holders that have a fold over flap held by velcro. They also have elsastic straps that fit around the visor. Slide the elastic straps over the visor. and pull down the flap that overs the cd pockets. Ain't perfect but it is functional. Oh Yeah, got 'em at Wal( China) Mart....

This is exactly what I was going to say. I found some pics of them, but the pictures hardly do them justice. I'd say that they hang down no more than 3.5". They look like tiny visors built into larger visors (the larger visors don't even move, they are just like that way because every other country got the large visors, while we got smaller ones due to visibility laws).

Has anyone actually found a replacement visor? I can't find anything.

Nor have I.

Just examining the grooves around the visors (along with their depth)today would lead me to believe that a replacement wouldn't look very good. They won't be able to sit anywhere near flush.

Tinting is a tough call - on the one hand I don't want to impair night visibility, and on the other I know that a lighter tint won't be enough.

I live in Atlanta and today was hell, sun-wise.

The guy who mentioned strapping on a CD case and using the flap as additional cover may be on to something. Or you can use one of those suction cup baby visors, and look really cool in the process!
