I just bought a 2009 Fit Sport 5-speed manual. At 65 MPH the tach seems to be reading very high.

Questions: For 5-speed manual owners what does your tach say at 65 MPH in 5th gear?

At 60 mph on a 09 Fit with .727 trans ratio in 5th gear and 4.62 axle ratios on 185/55x16 tires the Fit should be turning 2825 rpm. At 65 its turning 3060 rpm. Thats not absolute; the ires aren't that precise but its close within 30 rpm. The 08 has .757 and 4.29 which turns about 2580 rpm at 60 or 2880 at 65 with the smaller tire but taller gears Just trying to make up for the extra weight and bigger shell..
You think thats fast?; try a Sprite that turns 4000 rpm at 60.

A tad over 3000.

Plenty of pull to get over the hills without downshifting with the cruise control on.

Cheers.

There always has to be one contaminated douche bag in the box. Who gives a flying F-ck if a topic gets brought up twice or three times? opinions change, new information comes about, different people join the board, etc. Anyway, thanks for all the answers everybody, and thanks guy (who I quoted) who is obviously trying to up his post count.

Hello Sir, BakedCookies is a really good guy.
Jump into somebody elses shoes for a second as 'Baked' is here all the time helping everybody out and may get his hot button accidentally pushed answering the same question for the 20th time. Don't take it personal, chill out. Plus polite will get you more than a rant will.....true story! Consider editing your post as that is not a particullarly great second post to have on a forum. Plus getting THAT nasty can get you banned, so it doesn't make any sense.

Back on topic, I'm about 3860 at 80 MPH. This little honda motor is made to spin vs a large displacement engine which can lumber along at 65. Some have commented that a 6th gear would be nice. Me, I'm used to Motorcycles and Snowmobiles, so my perspective is why is the Fit motor spinning so slow at 65? LOL

I see you just finished the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People".

No offense, but you're digging a hole for yourself here very early on.

Either way, welcome to FF!

Now look who is throwing the rocks, give the guy a break he expressed an opinion and it was addressed. Lets just stay on topic! I came here to read about the fit not people having jabs at one another.

At 65 MPH my tach sits around 3200-3400. Not exactly sure because it's angled at our viewsite. But I just cruise control it and my MPG sits at 38-40, so I'm getting 35-36 MPG.

based on your logic, then badself would be entitled to an opinion also...correct? Plus he does welcome the guy to the forum, bottom line is badself is being polite actually

Not much more to say about RPM....except I disagree with those who say the cruise RPM with MT is so much higher with GE8 than GD3. It is not, the math is flawed somewhere. I owned a GD3 for 38K miles and the 2 cars are about the same cruise RPM wise.
