Just got my 09 Fit last night!!!

Just got it last night at about 8pm. So far I love it! I traded in my old single cab 93 Ranger so its DEFINITELY nice to have room for once in my car! I'm 6'3 and have more than enough room in the interior. Very Excited!

It's definitely as stock as it can got but i'm new to the Fit community here, so any pointers and/or mod suggestions are always welcome. By the way, Im new here so Hello everyone!

Hiya and welcome to the forums!

Since you bought the car as stock as it comes, I don't assume you'll be doing much in terms of enthusiast modding, but what I will suggest as convenience or something aesthetic are the following:

1. upgrade the horn (10 bucks for the horn unit itself from bernardi honda)
2. window visors or some sort of shade extension for the sun visors. When you swing them out to the side they don't really cover much of any sun, but since you're 6'3" (and i'm 5'8") you might not have that problem.
3. Short shifter - the T1R one from A&J Racing is <$100 CAD and apparently feels a lot nicer with the shorter throw...I have one but have yet to install it 'cause I'm lazy and haven't gotten my hands on some lithium grease
4. wheel locks - you might have gotten them already, but if you haven't get them 'cause it seems wheel theft is an issue, especially in the states.

Well, as a tall person (6'5") to another tall person, good choice! This was the only compact car on the market that has headroom!

I don't like M4's advice on the short shifter and the sun visors. A: We tall people have a problem where sun visors go right in the field of vision (I refuse to let anyone use the visors when I drive) and B: Short shifters aren't really needed. Pure placebo, and if anything, puts extra wear on the synchro.

No opinion on the horn (I think the stock one is cute ) and DEFINITELY get wheel locks. Especially in the LA area.

If I were you, I'd recommend the following:
Clear bra (If you can find a reputable place that will also do a full hood wrap, you want to get that. Our hoods are steep and very forward facing). I also have a piece of clearbra to cover the bumper on the rear gate
Tint is nice in the Fit, but that's optional. I have 15% llumar.
Adjust the headlamps up a bit for night driving (If you look on the back of the headlight assy, there's a channel for a screw driver and a circular metal wheel. I'd suggest turning the wheel two teeth while rotating the screwdriver counterclockwise, both sides, and see how that looks)
Cargo cover and floor mats (REALLY follow the install instructions precisely if you install the floor mat clips yourself)
Give it a good wash/wax, and use at LEAST NXT2.0. I used Klasse personally for my first wash. Also, treat all the plastic on the inside with 303 plastic treatment. It will keep it looking new, but not fake glossy, for years to come.

Welcome to the forums and grats on the new car!

I would start off with some window tint and new wheels, both will make your car look phenomenally better.

Agree on the clear bra, a coupple of companies make them.
Second GET LENS COVERS FOR HEAD LAMPS AND FOG... my fog lens are cracked already, im ordering the covers from lamin-x today!! so unhappy!
Thridly, because we are in california get the tint done!
Fourth, the multitude of lights on the fit leave it up to upgrading to LED's I sugest the hatch trunk light to upgrade! I did my headlights and licenceplate lights to LED's already... simplest mods ever!!!

09 fit

Hi Evan
Best of luck with your new rideReading your post was a flash-back to last june when I got my 08 SSM Fit sport.I sold my 97 Ford ranger the same day.Best mods I got was a zeta dead pedal( you dont need one in a 09)weathertech lite smoke vent visors, center console off e-bay,hex-o-mat all season mats, cargo cover and cargo mats, most important was a clear shield by 3m.I just polished my Fit tonite after a long winter and NO nicks or dings to hood ,bumper front fenders thanks to the clear shield.Once again enjoy your ride

Hey, your car's a Base; only about 30% are. So's mine. You also claim to be 6'3", and so am I. You chose silver; so did I. Also the MT. Long story short: cut out the Single White Female shit, already. You get a "Star Wars" tattoo, and I'm suing.

From one fellow newbie owner to another! haha, picked mine up last night, as well! Loving it!

I agree with all suggestions made in this thread. The all-season mats, the driver's side I couldn't figure out exactly. I started cutting into the rubber mat and just gave up on it, i'm gonna let Honda do that, lol. I'm not great with directions and didn't want to mess anything up.

Hello all!

Just picked up my 2008 Fit Sport MT 3/11/09. I love this little car. It had 2900 miles on it when i got it so someone didn't like it or... Anyway I wanted to ask about the clear bra and hood wrap. I live in the central Valley (Modesto) and was wondering if anyone new where I could start looking to get these. The last thing I want is knicks in the paint.

If you find yourself out in the Pleasanton area, or know you will be heading that way for a day and wouldn't mind dropping off your car, there's no better shop to get tint/clear than @ Omega Tintwerks. Vincent's the owner, and he literally lives to put films on cars. My tint (15% llumar, rear 5 windows, all the way up to the edge on the rear passenger windows. Looks like I have privacy glass) and clearbra film (Full custom hoodwrap, headlight and frogeye covers, foglight covers, front bumper, fenders, mirrors, under the handles, rear tailgate, and he also did a clearbra on that little exposed painted part of the sideskirts in the front wheelwell). When I go to my dealership, the service people start calling each other out to check out the job he did.

He isn't cheap (isn't too expensive either), but it's worth it, and he stands by his work.

He's busy and it's a small shop, so it's advisable to call in advance. When you turn onto Old Santa Rita Rd, his shop is waaaaay at the end (There will be a long commercial building on the left, and his place is at the end corner). Google maps gives a bad concept of where his building is, and it took like 10 minutes of driving around to find the actual place.

Oh it has a similar base bumper as the Asian Fit/Jazz, also no side skirts like ours but the rear bumper is the same as the Sport trim.

I just got a Fit LX (base for USA) a few days ago. Anyone know if it is possible to install fog lights on it? usually there is a part that seems obvious to cut a hole in but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know?

Thanks! lol I think I answered my own question http://www.collegehillshonda.com/sto.../foglights.jpg this picture shows they pretty much cut that whole side piece. I'm debating if I should just wait a bit and see if anyone is selling a sport front bumper or get a completely new body kit....any suggestions? I'm new to this stuff so help is much appreciated in modding my car!
