I've had pretty much all different types of oils in my car. For me, Mobil1 was not that great (used it for 5 years). I am not going to buy it again. Thus far, Amsoil was the best oil that I’ve had. UOA (Used-Oil Analysis) came back great at 9k miles. I am going to go 12-15k miles on my next change. Here are the two things that most people ignore or not pay too close attention to
1) Oil FILTERS are just as important when changing your oil. There are a few filters that I will use. If you’re using conventional and change your oil at 3-5k miles, OEM would probably suffice. However, for extended change intervals with synthetic, I’d get one of these: Amsoil EaO, WIX/NAPA Gold (same thing), or K&N. They have good filtering media and use springs instead of coils (like OEM, FRAM, STP, etc.)
2) Get a UOA done! You never know how far you can take a oil until you get a test done. It will tell you how the oil is doing AS WELL AS the condition of your engine. Think of it as a “urine test” for your car. VERY helpful and I suggest everyone to do one. I use blackstone-labs.
Anyway, this is just all my opinion through many years of researching which oils and such to use. Some might disagree, some might find it helpful—take it FWIW.

Here is more internet info (take it with a grain of salt)
Lot's of posts on lots of forums claim that the Honda filter is made by Fram (I do not know for sure)
and other posts, guys who have taken all kinds of filters apart claim the Fram is minimal in quality. (I dont make this stuff up folks, but a lot of info available if you got an hour to google)
2 questions come to mind
would Honda use an inferior quality filter and risk more engine warranty claims? The answer would be no if it were more than a couple dozen extra engine replacements.
would any auto manufacturer (including Honda) be tempted to buy filters from Fram if say they could save $1 a filter?
Sure because if they supplied say 4 million OEM filters a year that is a big profit.
Again it may be mindless internet chatter, don't know, but there seems to be a substantial amount of info along those lines, and certainly I am in no way trying to discourage the use of Honda oil filters.
Main reason I am not using the Honda filter right now is the Bosch was on sale and it is made by Puralator (Pure One). That one always rates high and it was convenient.
