Steering mounted radio controls for Fit Sport non-navi

Has anyone figured out how to connect the honda navi-fit radio controls --volume,mode,station buttons on left side of steering wheel-- to the stock non-navi radio system?

I looked online at a honda parts catalog and you can purchase the controls with the cruise control buttons ($100 or so). I also looked a vtec.net about the Honda Jazz review and noticed that their Jazz/Fit comes with the radio controls however with the standard radio system.

THanks

As a current owner of a 2004 RSX type-s, the lack of steering wheel controls is not so bad because the deck is canted towards the driver. However in the fit, the dash looks much farther forward therefore making the controls-- especially that center mounted fob--harder to reach.

I don't have my fit yet but I am already looking at ways to improve on it when I get is. Can someone post a picture of the wiring connectors for the wheel controls on a navi?

Note: I did multiple searches last night on this tread but came up empty handed.

Any Jazz owners willing to post pics of the back of their decks to see what the steering wheel controls are connected to ??

Thanks!

Just wanted to see what the connector looks like just to get an idea of what I will be dealing with.

Thanks for the info though!

When I get my Fit this is something that I am going to figure out...Hopefully! I got a Helms manual for my RSX so
I could do almost anything to the car..

Looks like I need to invest in one for the Fit too.

This wont help if you absolutely must keep the stock deck, but if you are willing on going with an aftermarket deck . . .

that is for cars with navi already.
we are talking about cars that don't have it to begin with.

No, the kit comes with the Honda steering remote switch that fits into the steering wheels. Or you could buy it without, if you could find one cheap elsewhere.

Just to clarify this product: Allows to control the aftermarket audio units with HONDA optional steering wheel control units.

- Uses Honda OEM steering remote (if your car DID NOT come with it, you must buy it separately)
- The remote will:
- Change sources (radio, cd, nav, ipod etc)
- Change +/- songs (including iPod connected to an aftermarket deck)
- Volume +/-
- Remote transmits to deck via IR

I assume that stock deck do not have IR reception, so this interface would not work.

Sorry if this is irrelevant information for this particular thread, but when I get my aftermarket nav, I will get this interface for sure.

Thanks for the link to the tread about the stereo connectors!

Side note: Just got back from our 2009 Motortrend car show here in Honolulu and got to look closely at the FIT. Now i like it even more. Looks like I'll be parting with my RSX. Going to miss all those 200+ HP and 8100 rpm revs. (Don't need 2 cars--since i live in the city)

Gas mileage and being able to use regular gas is the real bonus though... we hit $5 a gallon when fuel prices spiked.
