Side marker lights fender mounted or wing (mirror) style?

I am looking to add side marker lights to my fit (for safety and looks) once I get it. Which looks better the Australian/Thailand Jazz's side markers on the fenders or the wing style on the mirrors?

See link for pics:

Looks like the same sidemarkers on the EP3/DC5 models. I have done this mod to my RSX. It involves cutting the fenders and wiring them up to the turn signals to work.

Thanks

The base-model Jazz in Europe has the fender-mounted side blinkers.

Once you get to the Comfort level, or above, it comes standard with mirror-mounted blinkers.

Personally, I think installing the fender-blinkers would be easier, since the wiring isn't in the doors already for the mirror-mounted blinkers. But then again, given the choice, I'd probably do the mirror-mounted blinkers because they are easier for other people to see, and they look cooler.

Can anyone confirm that the wing style (mirror mounted) LED signals are a direct plug and play ( no extra wiring needed)?

Here are the JDM turn signal mirrors on my GE. I got them off Norihito on Ebay. They are most definately NOT plug and play. The cover and LED itself will fit the mirror perfectly but the wiring is rather involved. Not as bad as power folding/heated mirrors but there is work involved. Took my guy an hour and 45 minutes.

I absolutely prefer the mirror mount. With turn signals. Smartest darn invention ever (anyone know who started that?). They can be seen from the front, the back, and the side. Most importantly, is that the mirrors are at our eye level, and sure does make it easier to see if someone NEXT to you is trying to get over into your lane. I LOVE those things.

The OEM turn signals on the mirrors CANNOT be seen from behind. They don't extend out. They are only visible from the side and front. Sitting in the driver or passenger seat you would never know they are blinking.

There are aftermarket turn signals that do extend out far enough so be seen from behind but the Honda ones are iumpossible to see. It's this way on the new Insight too I believe.

Thanks for letting me know! I didn't realize that. I have only seen the mirror mount lights on OTHER cars. And maybe they aren't all that visible from behind. Hmm. I'll pay special attention, but they aren't that common (yet).

When I'm behind someone, their tail lights do a fine job of indicating turns. And seeing someone head on, the front lights do a good job too. It's when someone is beside me two lanes over, and we're on the freeway, for instance, and we both want to go in the lane that is between us.

Also ideal for merging traffic.

Hey mikejet, can you possibly take a picture from a rear blind spot angle on your car? If you can't see the lights from behind, I guess I'll be getting my DC5 sidemarkers again.

I really want to get marker lights that you can see. I can't tell you guys how many times it saved me from getting sideswiped from someone driving behind me in my blind spot when I am merging onto the freeway.

Trust me, you can't see them. Look at the closeup of the shot and you will see that no part of the turn signal sticks out past the edge of the mirror. There's absolutely no way to see it.

I have seen an aftermarket one that is visible though.

So mikejet, the LED is housed more toward the front side of the mirror then? Damn honda, the should make one like the newer IS250/350 or TSX mirrors where they stick out towards the rear.

Here's the DIY for sidemarker lights for an RSX. I bet this would be similar for the FIT. I'll be doing a DIY for the FIT once I do this mod.

Thanks

I'll take another picture when I get home standing in the blindspot. I know from directly behind the mirror you can't see it.

I still think they look great and I prefer them over actual sidemarkers.
