I found what i think are 3 part numbers for the wiper stalk switch used in european LHD fits. anyone know the difference? does one of them have front, variable intermittent wiper settings?

On my 91 Civic it did not have INT for the wipers. I got one from the junkyard off of an Si and it was plug and play.

 

I know the switch exists, but I have only seen it in RHD version, and typically with Honda the intermittent function is built into the switch base, so it should be plug and play, or shall we say "Plug and Pray"

 

After looking at my FSM the wiper switch is just that, a switch. The MICU controls the output signal that drives the wiper motor. Swapping out a MICU would be a nightmare if it's even possible.

 

Usually on most new Honda's the switch just inputs the MICU (Multiplex Integrated Control Unit). The MICU then controls the actual wiper operation. The MICU also usually offers variable speed based on actual vehicle speed. In intermittent mode the wipers will sweep slower at low vehicle speed and faster at higher vehicle speed even thought the switch is in the same spot the whole time. It may be possible to swap in the MICU but more than likely there are more wires in the harness as well. It could be an interesting experiment to see if is as simple as swapping a switch, or switch and MICU or if it needs switch/MICU/Harness. If anyone had access to a european LHD fit witht he said switch they should compare it to our version and see what the wires between the switch and MICU are as well as between the MICU and wiper motor. That would tell us how possible it is.

Is the euro switch different? cause I have INT on both my front and rear wipers.

Though my R32 has variable INT

 

There's INT for front and rear, but not varible speed INT.

 

Any one got any new info on a variable intermittent wiper mod?

 

This is one thing I miss from the accord. Why was it so hard to put it in from the factory?
