Le Honda Fit au Escargot

lol I was in San Francisco doing some errands of all places and found a snail near my left headlamp. Well I go about my day and rush home at 55mph,managing to piss off everybody on I80, so the snail doesnt fly off to take a picture (I live 60 miles away). By the time I get there, it miraculously didn't fall off and was near the bottom still hanging on. It was the coolest thing and I wanted to keep it on there but I set it free, but I lazily just put it on the driveway where my mom runs it over in her SUV 10 minutes later.

out of respect for the family of the deceased, I shall not show a picture of his mutilated body.

It is masculine. The "La" refers to the Honda Fit.

Now if you want to get technical, for escargot, even if in general the contraction for "a le" is "au" in French, since escargot starts with a vowel, you can't use the contraction. Instead, you ellipse the "e" at the end of "le" and replace it with an apostrophe, hence "a l'escargot".

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who wanted to correct the OP. I don't feel like such an asshole now.

I once drove from St. John’s to Port aux Basque Newfoundland before noticing a large snail on my front license plate. That’s about 500 miles at 75 mph. Fortunately there was some rain on the trip, which I suppose kept him/her from dehydrating. I coaxed it off with a leaf and left it on a bush by the ferry docks, where I perhaps its descendants live now. Lucky for it I didn’t hit a moose.
