Interior panels removal help
Interior panels removal help
I'm planing on installing my sub soon and I was wondering if anyone has any diagrams or tips for removing the interior trim panels on the floor like the ones beneath the doors and the one in between the front and rear doors? Also does anyone know how to remove the panel that contains the hood release lever.
if you're only planning to run regular stereo gauge wires, you can just pull back the seals and hide it under there. no need to pull apart a whole lot. now if you're going on some bass thumping contest, you are on your own.
I'm only running 8 gauge power cables but I also want to run new speaker wires and I wanted to get access to the pillar between the front and rear doors to run the cables inside the actual door. As for the hood release panel I was planing on following that cable to get my power cables in the cabin.
don't have any good pics handy right now but taking the trim pieces off is easy. It really helps if you have a trim removal tool Amazon.com: Actron CP5011 Panel, Trim and Molding Removal Set: Automotive
In order to run cables down the side you need to first take off the trim under the door sills, really easy to do with the tool... just start from the bottom and pry it up and out. I think its only held on by two clips.
The panel on the drivers side with the hood release is only held on with 1 or 2 clips, you can start from the rubber trim near the door or you can do what I did and just kinda grab it from the backside, near the dead pedal and pull towards the passenger side. It should just pop loose, then you can fit it over the actual hood release lever.
The center pillar panel is pretty easy too, start from the bottom, there are a few clips that need to be undone. Just start prying from the rear then the front and work your way up, once it becomes pretty loose you should be able to pull it down and out. It's kinda hooked into the panel above it so if its giving you too much resistance be careful, you really dont want to damage the one above it.
I have to pull off both sides this weekend for my project https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...crazy-but.html
so I'll try and remember to take a few shots of the actual removal to help you out.
