jerking stop

i have a little situation when I stop at a red light or a stop sign. I have a '09 SSM Sport AT and for some strange reason my car seems too shake or jerk a little bit when I'm at a stop. I keep thinking that there's something wrong with my brakes, but that's not the case. Does anyone have that same problem? If so, please tell me what it may be and what I can do about the jerking stop.

Very strange. You might check the engine mounts and make sure they are tight to spec. And even a potential bad plug that cuses the firing to be uneven.

Maybe it's downshifting into 1st, which might cause a slight jerk.

my car feels like it's going to stall sometimes in Neutral at a stop. It'll dip from just under 1000rpm to about 500 for a split second. Very scary. I only have 11,000 miles!!!

Sounds like the downshift that SN mentioned. Does it do it all the time? Does it happen more when you're on a downgrade?

Diagnose the problem. Shift into neutral before slowing to a stop. Does it "jerk" then?

I get the same thing in mine as well. It's the tranny shifting into 1st early. I combat this jerk by just easing off the brakes a little earlier and if you do it right you won't even feel it.

The useful but sometimes unwanted downshifts can be a problem on slippery roads.

Just like speedmojo said try to ease off the brakes just when your about to stop and you won't feel it. I had this in my lexus and my tc but its normal.

if you're going to stop for more than a few seconds, just shift your AT into neutral while approaching your stop (not while coasting).

well i hardly use SPORT that often. it doesnt happen all the time but on occasion. I would come to a complete stop and it will start to jerk.

It is getting warmer, are you using the A/C when this happens? All of the other post were in May and June last year leading me to wonder if it is due to the A/C cycling on and off..... I have had this happen in other cars with small engines and automatic transmission.

For me it happens when the AC cycles. Gotta have your foot on the brake a bit harder during those times.

Oh no... sorry to hear that... What's the code? I'm experiencing something similar. When I have my A/C on, my car rattles a bit. Also whenever the A/C comprssor goes on the whole car losses some electric power. I notice this more at night with my headlights on, and the headlights loses it's brightness time to time...

I'd chaulk that up to normal behavior. If the car wants to lurch while at rest without the AC or defrost on, that's a different story and something more is going on.
