Paint peeling off of the bumper

Does anyone have issues with the paint peeling off their bumper?

I have paint coming up on the passenger side of the bumper, right at the triangle where the bumper meets the fender.

Sorry for the crummy photos, but I'm at work without a decent camera.

I'm meeting with the regional service manager at the dealership tomorrow night to discuss this. The dealership's service manager told me that he can't approve it.

Who else has this problem?

No issues with mine yet (fingers crossed)
btw... what the heck have you been doing to your tires? That tire looks like you've been drifting the fit a little

Haha, no.

I bought the tires used, and they've still got about 7/32 of tread on them.

Can't see well enough but it looks like the peeling is impact related, which of course is not warranted. Also looksd like touch up would do it.
Or have it inspected by a good paint & body shop to see what they say.
Before you blame Honda and your dealer note that those bumpers are government mandated. Unless you want to pay thousands more for 'better bumpers, thats what you got for your money. And any other vehicle, including Cadillacs or Mercedes.

Yes, the dealership claimed that it looked impact related too, so they put it up on a lift and searched for a point of impact. They confirmed that it was not impact related, because my car hasn't been hit by anything. Unfortunately the dealership's service manager did not want, or was unable to make the call to have the bumper replaced.

Today I take it back to be re-inspected by the regional service manager.

I'm not worried about the bumper, it's what the US DOT says is needed to protect me from the SUVs and lifted pickup trucks. However, the US DOT did not mandate that the paint shall peel off.

I don't understand what a DOT mandated bumper has to do with paint.

DOT requires certain collisions less than 3 mph not have a desrtuctive loss of crash protection. Urethane is the best material for molding flexible surfaces and unfortunately urethane is not one of the paint friendly materials. It requires a preapplication and special chemicals in the paint for good adherance. That is not a concern of DOT but it is to the vehicle manufacturers due to cost and reliability.
Itsd like being told you have to work left-handed if you'tre right-handed. You can of course but not as well.
Even with special preparations and paint painted surfaces are not perfect. Sometimes the application just doesn't work and yours may be one of those. Paints craze and peel sometimes without observable reason.
Did you get a body shop to estimate repair and particularly if they would repair it?
Hopefully, its a small touch up job that will quickly solve your problem
And good luck with the reg rep. I suspect he'll be amenable to at least some sort of rework.

Figured that would be. Now aren't you glad GM went out instead of Honda. Maybe you now know why.

alignment a bit off?

And is it just the lighting or do you have some bubbling at the crease? (center-right part of the pic)

The alignment is wrong, there's some bubbling, and it's the wrong color.

They used the blue from the 2007 fit.

They told me that it happens a lot with new cars, blah, blah, they don't have the paint formula right at first, blah, blah, blah. They're going to give me a rental car, and try again.

I'm going to the honda dealership (They had the body work done at the body shop owned by the dealership chain) today after work to show them what a wonderful job was done. And tell them that their body shop used the wrong OEM Color.

wow I would be irate if a dealership did that crappy paint job to my car.
Paint is all f*cked. Wrong color, bubbles and I can't see very well but the clear coat looks all hazy where they tried to blend it.

Best of luck

I noticed that I'm having the same exact problem with my fit when I was claybaring. Glad to see I'm not the only one.
I was thinking about bringing it up at the dealer, but I thought they'd laugh at me. It's still small yet ..
