2010 Honda Fit Hybrid
2010 Honda Fit Hybrid
Just came across this article, not sure if it's been mentioned so I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything. Anyway,
Honda Confirms CR-Z and Fit Hybrids for 2010
Now how about a Fit Si to top it off??
(note: the Fit Hybrid is confirmed for Japan, not sure about other countries as of yet.. But I have a feeling it might not, it could very possibly cannibalize the Insight Hybrid)

I hope Honda is positioning the CR-Z as it's next attempt at a breakthrough mass-selling hybrid, since the Insight doesn't seem to be picking up too much steam. I hope they price it below the Insight, they would sell a shitload of them...
It's not a repost. They actually just confirmed this today. The CRZ will go on sale in Japan in February.
I highly doubt the CRZ will be a mass selling hybrid. The CRX was very popular but it was still a niche car. Personally I think the hybrid Fit will be the best selling out of the 3 hybrids.

The CRZ is not a mass market Fit sporty. It is a descendent of the CRX and will likely cost at least mid-twenties base. There is an Si model planned with about 200 hp plus. and at least 36 mpg.
Racetracks will fill up with them despite concerns over voltage hazards. And I hope Honda gets it on sale before the gas-guzzler bill runs out.
Don't hold your breath for a hybrid Fit til at least 2012; that is the Insight (built on Fit chassis with less room available.)

News of the CR-Z penetrating the US market tickles my pickle. I was leaning towards the Fit and think its a fantastic car but I'm going to hold out for the CR-Z and then make a decision. My mom is getting a Fit in 2 months anyway so I'll be able to take it for a year long test drive.
I too am curious where he got the crz hp #'s from.
I have a route or two outside the news.
Honda needs the real sports car CRX, CRZ, to lead the way. Whoever is first in that market, especially with the affordable high performance on a car that has also mystical reverence as a sports car, will own the market. Honda marketing in Japan knows that. And the Si upline will have at least 200 hp to demonstrate Honda prowess in green high performance !
This I haven't heard but I suspect that there will be another commuter special - CRZ-HX - that will yield over 60 mpg in the CRZ line. Originally, the diesel hybrid may have been that expecting 70+ mpg but US diesel prices and emissions kinda slow that.
As for the Fit hybrid it would be priced too close to the same as the Insight by merely adding the hybrid architecture with little more to offer.
Works in Japan but not here very well.
The product plan is for a whole new Fit in 2012 with a whole new chassis in which the Insight will probably disappear from nameplates to have only Fit Hybrid as upper end of Fit range. We'll get Fit, Civic, Accord, and CRZ ranges in cars. The micro too is iffy because of the US vehicular safety linitations and lawyer feedstock.. Big squashes little and lawyers feed on that real world physics .
Next years Japanese Fit is likely our 2012's Fit, sans Insight.
cheers.
