Planning a road trip to visit a friend in Michigan in the heart of GM/Lear country. With all the problems GM has, am I going to sustain any damage to my Fit? (worried Dad)

Yes I live in Michigan and I get my car stolen and vandalized every other day and people attack me at random and try to harm me. It's horribly scary.

You might think twice of going to Michigan if you're asian. Never forget Vincent Chin.

In that case, the Judge, Prosecution, and Defense all agreed that in Michigan it's considered manslaughter NOT murder to kill somebody if they 'look' Japanese and you are a domestic autoworker. You get no jail time, but you do get a $3,000 fine and $780 in court fees.

No you should be fine lol. Every once in a while you get the "buy american guy" driving his built in mexico focus or Daewoo/Chevy Aveo. But I imagine that happens in every state

 

Very sad story. But you can't stereotype all of michigan because of those two idiots. The detroit area is actually becoming a large melting pot of cultures.

great movie... I never learned so many derogatory terms for Asians in a span of two hours before...(Im Asian btw, suplized I kno), some of them are quite clever.

I use to live in Grand Rapids when I was a kid but my dad had an Impala so they left us alone.

How much crap other drivers give you is proportional to how close you are to the nearest GM or Ford factory. Within 20 miles or so of one you go by a lot of people recently laid off and they can sometimes be jerks about it. I just treat the Fit like a really slow motorcycle in terms of watching other drivers around me and making sure I won't be hit by someone ignorant.

Other than that though, easy state to drive in. Just remember, if you speed and get pulled over, when you get a ticket the policeman will take your license to make sure you come back to pay it. That, or something like $100 you get back when you pay your ticket.
