I just got the mugen quick shifter today for my GE8, and put it in myself. It's so not worth the $90 for install..I followed the vid from college hills honda. it took 45 mins and i've never done it before, super easy.

I really like the feel of it, shifting feels way more solid and tight. I didn't like the feel of the stock shifter at all, super sloppy feeling. I would def recommend the mugen even tho it's kinda spendy. and the stock knob fit on the mugen fine..

i have a super noob question speaking of knobs...are there any i can get that will screw on and sit lower that the stock one?

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo shift knob screws on and sits lower. I think some of the weighted knobs sit lower as well.

Here's my Evo knob.

Thanks for the input on the Mugen shifter...everyone that has it seems to love it and the drop-in install seems simpler than the T1R. I found a DIY for the T1R (https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/aj-r...tion-tech.html).

But I could get the T1R would be at most $75 shipped vs $190 picking up locally at my dealer for the Mugen shifter!

Look for a countersunk knob.

Thanks for the info on the countersunk knob

I ordered the Rick's Team Voodoo knob and it's legit! paired with the Mugen quick shifter, the feel is great and I would highly recommend both, I have no idea how any other short shift set-ups feel tho. All I know is it's 100 times better than stock..

The Voodoo is def heavier than the stocky and it sunk down about an inch and half lower than the stock knob, seems to be way cheaper than most other weighted countersunk knobs too - was $45

If you dont wanna spend alot, i'd actually start with the voodoo knob, and then if you wanna go lower/more solid/tight shifts, get the Mugen quick too..

thanks again for the info!

LOL...I ordered the T1R just hours before you posted, so I won't be trying the new knob first

I actually really like the stock knob and height.
