iPhone 3GS + 2009 Fit

Just wanted to let you guys know that my iPhone 3GS (32GB) works perfectly with my 2009 Fit Sport Navi. You can control it thru the headunit and it charges the iPhone as well.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I'm glad that it charges the phone. My old car ('08 Infiniti G37S) did not charge my iPhone 3GS, but it was able to control it though.

I'm not sure about the regular non-Navi versions though. Anyone with a 3GS and a non-Navi Fit wanna chime in?

myke

I've got a RazorI, it has a 4 gig mini SD for tunes and photos.

Haven't tried it yet to see if the stereo can find the folder with the music, but I figure it will at least charge the phone thru the USB.

Gotta find my cable that I hook it up to the computer with.

I'm non-Navi and so far original iPhone and 3G have worked fine, and since 3G and 3GS share all accessories, I would suspect that it should work correctly as well.

Ahh well, my RazorI won't play it's tunes in the Fit, didn't really expect it to, but it would have been nice.

It does recharge though, which is a nice little bonus, since I don't have a car charger for it.

i just got the iphone 3gs running 3.1 firmware, and it doesnt work on my usb interface with a non navi fit sport. Did anyone figure out how to get it to work? it worked with my old iphone 2g but when i plug in the 3gs, it says "device not supported" or something on the stereo unit.

My 3Gs works just fine in it. I'd say backup your phone and restore it maybe?

Or do a hard reset on it. Just hold down the top power/sleep button and the main home button for about 10 seconds.

Then try.

The other thing might be I tried it fresh out of the box with pandora radio playing. It says "device not supported". I may need to hook it up to iTunes and add some songs to my iPod and try again. Are you running 3.1 official? Or is it 3.1 jailbreak?

I'm running legit.

Pandora won't work with the adapter. Only the files on your phone, not the apps.

I'd say if you want to use Pandora, just spend the $3 on the Aux cable and do it that way.

iPhone 3Gs works in my '09 non-Nav Sport

I have the 3Gs and the '09 Fit, non-Nav Sport and the 3Gs does work in the USB port as well as can be expected. I sometimes get the "Device Not Supported" error, but it doesn't impact how it works. It charges and I get all the songs on the headunit with quick speed. The real issue is it limits your iPhone to be an iPod and I haven't figured out how to do anything else with the phone except the iPod App. Kind of a bummer.

I therefore have my iPhone mounted to a vent-mounted cradle and use an audio cable going from the iPhone's headphone port into the aux port and use a 12v charger from down below. I would love to figure out how to securely mount an iPhone cradle and use the audio out of that thing into the headunit's aux port. That would eliminated the wire out of the top of the iPhone. As I have it now, I have to plug 2 things in and the iPhone looks like it is on life support with the wires all over the place.

Any suggestion people have on this would be appreciated.

if the stereo had a pause button, pandora.app and lastfm.app would work perfectly. on my alpine deck all i had to do was hit the pause button and it would pause ipod.app and then i could fire up pandora.app. right now, you can fire up pandora.app after you plug in your iphone, but ipod.app will randomly start playing again so it's pretty annoying. i guess i can just use the aux input but it's not as neat and i don't like having to adjust volume levels on 2 devices.

Why wouldn't pandora work with the USB cable? I use the woxy.com app (woxy is an internet radio station, and the best radio station ever) with the USB cable, and I don't get any unsupported. I would assume that any other internet radio app such as pandora would work.

I don't have an Ipod, flash drive or anything else but I do have a couple of CD's somewhere. But I prefer silence when I drive, so my stereo system works perfectly fine on my '09 Sport!

what's your method?

in my experience, when i plug in my iphone and choose AUX, ipod.app automatically starts playing. i can then launch pandora and it will play...for a while. if you turn off the ignition and then restart the motor or even just put it to position II on the ignition, pandora will cut out and ipod.app starts up again. ..and sometimes it'll just launch ipod.app randomly, i won't even have to turn off/on the car or anything.

on the other hand, the alpine on my other car has a pause button and that forces ipod.app to pause and i can then launch pandora and the audio channel will still be open to the headunit w/o interruption.

Usually I start the app before I plug it in, with aux already chosen from the last time I turned the car off.

I have a second generation Ipod Touch with the latest software installed. I can play music, but have trouble controlling the device. I don't have navi on my 09 Sport. I can scroll to playlists and pick one, but I can't scroll through albums or artists.

Any ideas?

Thanks

i've done it that way as well. ipod.app will still cut in when i have pandora playing. oh well, if i want consistency and reliability, i'll have to resort to the aux cable.

what kind of problem are you having w/ the controls?

as far as scrolling through artists/albums, do you have your tags organized and are they complete w/ artist and album info?
