Congrats. Tiny Hands?

Did you remove the C piller covers on both sides, the the rubber weather stripping on hatch and rear doors to drop the liner?

Can't wait to read the second part of this saga about the re-install of everything. How far to the Honda dealer? LOL

OK I am going to go clean my drive and brush Taffy off again. She needs gas too.

The back of the headliner is dropped...barely. The passenger c pillar has one tab off. Basically, I took almost nothing off. I used my hands to get in there and just get it done. I did wrinkle my headliner a bit but you can hardly tell and at this point I don't care.

Ok...looks like things with the vinyl are falling into place but now I have a deicision to make:

matte black, glossy black, carbon fiber

Pics:

Matte

Glossy

Carbon Fiber

I won't tell you which way I'm leaning. I would like some opinions though so I can make up my mind. Prices are about the same no matter which vinyl I choose.

DonNguyen has good pics in his thread(s) but I didn't want to steal his pics. You can search and find his pics with the keyword "vinyl"...he has all the various types on there. Especially a super sexy wrx with matte and some good looking Bimmers with the CF.

I think gloss black would look classiest although the other 2 aren't bad.

I like gloss but likely the hardest to keep clean looking.

Flat looks like awaiting final coat. Sort of like a backyard DIY job that is not finished.

Carbon hmm not really a fan.

So go with Gloss.

So down to two eh? Flat or Carbon cause you never listen to the old man.

Get matte black!
I'm getting my roof and rear diffuser painted matte black soon.
Reason I chose this is because gloss black (like Scion TC's) have that high light reflection that would draw away from the car. I want to be able to look without squinting to know that its got a black roof top!
Carbon fiber, I never even considered...just cause...

But yeh, I also plan on painting my rear splash guards TW to match the body...may DIY the job.

Gloss black.

CF vinyl is a trend that has already died. Matte black will never look clean. Gloss black will at least look OEM since lots of OEM manufacturers are making cars with gloss black roofs.

IMHO, you don't have to match all of your trim pieces with the same finish (i.e. matte vs. gloss)...

Im torn. I think matte would 'match' better. But gloss would look more oem and clean. How about this, just DONT go carbon vinyl lol.

Why is everyone anti the cf vinyl? Just curious. I think it looks nice because it is between gloss and vinyl. I think the gloss may be too much. Idk.

And I have never been a trend setter nor follower. I just do what I like. It's not like I go to meets or shows. I dunno.

Gloss Black, it matches the rear center garnish, and there's about a 99% chance you'll want to change your wheels sometime in the not so distant future.

NO CARBON FIBER.

Gloss vinyl scratches much easier than matte and matte scratches easily as well

At the end of the day, the next and so on you have to like what you have done to the car. Being that it is vinyl, you could always replace it, but I don't think you want to spend the same money 2 or 3 times. Just do what your heart is telling you to do. I have a feeling you're leaning towards the carbon finish, opinions of others are alright to hear, but ultimately we need to make our own choices and I know you already know this. Get the carbon and be happy.

My stupid self jokingly asked Mugen how much would a complete carbon roof cap replacement cost? To match their FD2RR that they have on display in their showroom. Onuma-San just laughed and said...TAKAI (expensive).
