Are GE8's too weak for serious sound?
worst case scenario if you have your subs cranked you're headlights might dim slightly at times... my ek didn't, my bros e30 did so it depends. make sure you have a fuse right after the battery and you won't have a problem
wat bout a capacitor. is that any good? i'm also wondering if there is a way to have a sound system that can be turned off and won't eat up any electricity. my car is a daily driver and i would onlly use my subs once in a while. just to impress the ladies. haha. yyyeaa riiighht.
ok ive had two 12's on a 1500 watt amp and had no issues. but now im on two 15's and im using two 1500's on each and im running one six channel to my mids and highs.... lets just say im using a rather large kinetiks battery. capacitors are okay but i think u might as well get another battery espescially if u'll be runnin anything else like lights or anything else. and if u dont wanna hear the subs then just take the power wire out of the amp. it would save gettin under the hood all the time.
i had this system on my old car which was an eclipse. i had no problems until about a year. my car battery kept getting corroded, my engine seemed to want to turn off when i was runnning the a/c with subs. i know im probably an idiot for doing that. i just want my bass in my car back, i'm just afraid of F****** this car up. haha. so bigger battery, maybe a capacitor, any switches of some sort that turn the subs on and off, that would be great. thanks for the responses by the way.

Tap into the REMOTE TURN ON LEAD...
Put a switch between the radio and the amp...
Turn the switch off to prevent the AMP from powering up...[/quote]

A flip of a switch take half a second...
if you can cut/strip/solder then you have no worries at all...
if you can cut/strip/crimp you have no worries at all...
cause you can acccidentaly bump a fuse back in right?
