Most/least amount of miles!

I think what the original poster wanted to get an idea of was how many miles people have on their car currently. And I added in that it means more if people were to put in their purchase date and the miles on their car when they bought it.
Here's why:
1. Car has 100 miles on it (bought Dec 08, driven 10 miles a month, came with 10 miles on the odometer when purchased)
2. Car has 100 miles on it (bought today, driven 90 miles home, with 10 miles on the odometer when purchased)
3. Car has 100 miles on it (bought last week and used for commuting 10 miles round trip, used occasionally for errands, came with 2 miles on odometer when purchased)
4. Car has 100 miles on it (bought 2 days ago, went on pleasure drive and away for the weekend, had 2 miles on the odometer when purchased)
5. Car has 100 miles on it (bought Thursday, used to commute to and from work, round trip 90 miles, had 3 miles on odometer, and driving home from the dealership was about 7 miles)
All five cars have the same miles. All five cars have the same miles right now, at this specific point in time.
But over a period of time from NOW, all five cars will NOT have the same miles in the future. The variables can change too. They aren't fully defined as they are.
The person who commutes 90 miles round trip could work one day a week and telecommute the rest of time. They could work 5 days a week, or 5 days a week only during the school year (teachers).
The pleasure/getaway weekend driver could do that every weekend...or once a year for a special event. Current patterns are not necessarily indicative of the future.
One way to get a very good idea of just how much people drive, would be to take the odometer reading and divide by the number of days the car has been owned.
Using a birthday site (LOL) you can get the number of days, hours, seconds, since you bought your car (for those of us who need to know approximately how many miles per second we put on our cars, LOL):
Data for my purchase date of 12/19/08
As of 8/30/2009 6:30:07 PM EDT
You are 0 years old.
You are 8 months old.
You are 37 weeks old.
You are 254 days old.
You are 6,114 hours old.
You are 366,870 minutes old.
You are 22,012,207 seconds old.
Here's the site:
Birthday Calculator
I'll check my odometer and add to this post with the current reading after I run down to Home Depot.
Edit add-on: 1382 miles.
1382 (current mile total) - 69 (miles on car when bought) = 1313 ÷ 254 (number of days owned) = 5.1692913 miles per day average.

Purchased my '09 Sport MT Sept 08....
Just hit 35,000miles...
OEM Dunlops are nearly shot... bought some 14" Yoko iGuards which I'll slap on in November to get me through the SLOP...
Stepping up my oil changes to around 40% oil life remaining (summer) after letting the meter ring in to 20-15 during the colder mos...
Some rattles... paint chips on the vulnerable hood... otherwise soldiering on faithfully like a true Honda...
just bought my DrawTite hitch from E-trailer for $104... free shipping... gonna do a carg platform for some longer family hauls

I picked up mine with 193 miles, but I think I'm cheating because I had the dealership drive the only Fit Sport MT they could find in 2 states to me.
I'm up to 360 miles currently. Is it me, or does the miles tick by awful quick?

This is an interesting thread. I had always wondered if everyone really did drive the mentioned average of 15,000 miles a year. It's on Fuel Economy and other sites.
For those that don't drive much, check with your insurance to see if there is a discount for driving fewer miles. There is with my insurance, AAA. This could be useful for multi-car families/people. Using one car for the majority of driving, cutting back on using the other car, could give you a break on rates.

Lesse.....
Bought the car the beginning of december (silver storm 09).....had 4 on it, now at 21k due to my job and other things....but it is a great car to drive though I wonder what I will have to keep an eye on as it racks the miles.
