Door Visor Installation For Dummies

Has anybody had experience installing these visors?

HONDA FIT DOOR VISORS 2009:eBay Motors (item 120426562378 end time Sep-24-09 06:42:45 PDT)

I don't want the glue on type. If these are too difficult to install, I'll just do without them.

The description states they are held on by the "hidden bracket system".

I believe it's the following direction:

it uses both, the clips are installed in the rubber liners that keep out water when the windows are up. it isnt that hard to install.

I looked at the parts and the instructions that came with them, and asked my dealer to install.

I've noticed these on many cars, especially outside the USA. What functional purpose do they serve?

You can leave the windows cracked while driving or parked, especially in the rain, to allow some airflow in.

Do they increase or decrease (or no difference) wind noise at highway speeds?

Didnt see a difference in wind noise at highway speeds.

Also they are held on by tape. The "brackets" are just there to hold it in place while you apply the double sided tape. The brackets dont hold the visors up at all.

Question for those of you that have the OEM visors installed, especially those that have had these either dealer or self installed for a few years now:

How are things holding up?

I've seen several responses stating that the brackets attached to the visors don't support them and the adhesive does all the work.

Any sagging or sliding due to heat? Does the acrylic seem to be holding up in the elements? Any brittleness or discoloration, hazing, cracks, etc.?

there's a new part number for the OEM visors. the metal brackets actually now aid in holding them up since they go in between the door and the rubber window gasket. the PDF instructions on college hills honda need to be updated to reflect that change. but when you get the package, you'll be be able to tell which brackets go where.

The set I purchased last year does exactly that (go between gasket and door)... but those brackets really are more for positioning than anything else. I assure you, without the tape, that puppy is coming off, no problem.

Is that the "new" part number you are talking about?

i think that's the part number. no longer the part number ending in 100A. yes, i understand that the visors won't hold w/o the adhesive if you're going at speed, that's why i wrote "now aid in holding them up".

Yeah, I had to figure this out on my own last Wednesday when I put them on. So far they seem to hold really well.

I just did my third install of these yesterday for the wifey for mother's day. I've ordered both part numbers and the newer ones are both the same. I ordered the part ending in 101 and the 100 and they both show up ending in 100. I wonder if 101 is supposed to have directions or something?

They now have 4 fewer clips and the clips go all the way up and on top of the seal as mentioned previously. I had instructions for the old set and it took me forever to figure out it needed less clips. I thought I got shorted.

Not a difficult job but it's kind of tedious. Especially the back with the little foam pads that go inside the seal.

Is it easy to line the visors up to each other? Should they be taped so the top edge lines up with the top of the door? Also, is it difficult to get that rear triangle off to install the foam?

It's not too hard. You push them all the way up the wont quite be to the top of the door. The main thing is to get them lined up on the center pillar where the front and back visors meet.

It's a little trickey. I actually broke one on the wife's car. They are cheap to replace though. I think the new one cost about $6. Best to do it when it's hot out. The instructions even say to do the install only above a certain temperature.
