My 09 Fit v. my first post Evah!
Bought a 5AT Fit with the Cash For Clunkers deal, and I can say that I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. My only complaint is the drive-by-wire with the throttle lag when you initially press the gas (anyone else have this problem?) and the lack of power. Otherwise it's a sweet car!
My previous DD was a Lexus ES300, which started to give up around 263k(!!). After a electrical fire, an overheat, and numerous problems in-between, it was time to trade it in. nicely done. i'm loving the contrast between the daily and the weekend toy. rear drive w/ some fun power and a front drive daily w/ just enough power. at least they both handle pretty well, right? as much as i love my FiT, i know i'm always going to keep a rear drive weekend toy around.

one time coming out of a parking stall slowly, I was pushing the gas pedal very little and as I released the cluth half way, it stalled on me. I am positive I depressed the gas pedal so I thought I gave it enough gas but I guess not. Is this similar to the drive by wire throttle lag problem?

Also I noticed that the name MSR and the staging area in the first seems very familiar to me. Is this the MSR Houston on County Road 48 just 7 miles north of Angleton?
Edit: If you are still not used to or uncomfortable with the DBW throttle system, perhaps you'd be interested in a throttle body controller.

Welcome to the world of the automatic transmission! It takes a bit of throttle down for the AT to figure out that you want a downshift.... this is where the paddle shift comes in. I use it to tell the AT to downshift NOW, rather than use the throttle to force the downshift... + the paddles make having an AT more fun. I had to give up on having a MT (damn my left knee...) but having the paddle shift helps to ease the pain!

@ Codger - Yah, I don't think it's the automatic transmission - there's a distinctive lag when you press on the gas in first gear. It's part of the reason why I opted for the 5AT was b/c of the lag that was even more noticeable in the 5MT. Every time I blipped the throttle on the downshifts, it would not rev up...my test drive was really frustrating as I learned I had to *hold* the throttle to get the blips up. And the last thing I wanted to do was learn how to drive the Fit differently from the S2000, since the S2000 is the one I'm trying to extract the most out of. It's one of the problems w/ drive-by-wires in general. Honda (and Nissan) really need to tune it out
Having said that, the flappy-paddle shifters is a good compromise. But the lag just makes it difficult to be smooth.
@Cat - it was supposed to be my DD car only, but...I might have to. The frame feels really stiff, and I feel there's a bit of potential in the chassis. It's a LOT more fun than I originally thought... Needs more power for me though

Click the link that reads "throttle body controller" in my previous post. It basically increase of the rate and how much the throttle body is opened. On top of that its essentially plug and play.
Its all good. The 5AT isn't all that bad with all things considered. Sure, it is not as fun as ripping through the gears and puts less power to the wheels; but, you still have the ability to skip gears (2 clicks and hold paddle) and shift at points you want with the paddles.
