Picking a fight with the Fit
Yea I guess so. First time actually posting on here so I didn't know what to expect. Never knew it would cause so much flaming. My explanation didn't help either I think..
Anytime you "zip" in and out, you are going to piss somebody off. Most of the time they will just say to themselves what you are and drop it. Face it, however, you are driving a small car, and will loose the argument with anything bigger. I'll bet you arrived about 15 seconds faster than if you just kept with traffic. Was it worth it?
that's how we drive in the northeast. i never knew what cutting people off was until i was in TX. i'm from boston, we zip in and out of traffic all the time, thats how we drive up here. if you don't drive like that up here, you'll never get to your destination. however, whenever we cut people off, it's not like how southerners do it. People from the south will run you off the road when they cut people off. people in the northeast will cut people off, then put our hand up as a sign of sign thank you, and the guy that got cut off will flick his lights or put his hand up as a sign of your welcome. when we drive aggressive in the northeast, we do it with courtesy. when southerners drive aggressive, they are reckless. they'll run you off the road with no consideration.
We can all be douchebags
I was getting blinded by some jackoff with PNP HID lights who was driving behind me on the interstate. So I switched lanes, slammed on the brakes, then switched lanes to be behind him so I could turn on my highbeams. I rode with the highbeams on behind him for at least 2 miles. He would try to change lanes but I would keep getting behind him. Its wasn't mature or smart or a good idea but DAMN did it feel good.
P.S. Sometimes when I'm just feeling stupid I rev the engine to redline a few times when someone cuts me off. For whatever reason it usually makes them do something stupid like try to get back out of my lane or start tailgating they guy in front of them even worse. Its kinda of funny to think anyone would be intimidated by 1.5L of fury.

There are different sorts of weaving.
Weaving with little to no room between you and another car is different than safely utilizing the road. If the road is open, using it will keep traffic flowing more efficiently (your car is now out of the way) and will get you there more quickly.
Also, don't give me BS about not gaining anything. In city driving, lights make a massive difference, and one car length can absolutely make the difference of making a light.

Just like winning or losing an argument really doesn't give anything to anyone. It just leaves everyone wondering what the point of that was.
There's been several bad accidents in my area where entire carloads of kids were killed because of just plain dumb-ass showing off! -And once recent racing-on-the-road accident on the way home from a local high school managed to kill not only a car load of kids in one of the driver's cars, but also someone's grandmother who was driving a school van going the other way!
So pardon me (and any of the rest of us) if we happen to not have a lot of sympathy for your 'poor baby' whining, okay?!!
One thing you and your friends might try to understand sweetie, and that is that supporting someone's immature and/or possibly reckless driving behavior with rah-rah cheers is really not doing them any favors in the long run! (F**K NO!!)

Have fun, just dont die, so that one day when you are older you can have a few drinks and laugh about the good ole days. All and All the world is a much safer and better plave to live than it was 20 years ago (violent crime: down. School shootings: more likely to get hit by lightning. Child abduction by a stranger; more likely to get struck by lightning. Automobile accidents and deaths: down. Life Expectancy: up) Dont let the fear mongers (AKA the gen X helicopter parents) fool you with their constant worry over every little thing.

Did I mention no matter how small the FIT may be the PIT maneuver is always an option
. Just make sure the jail time is worth it (we all saw that police chase with the fit), vehicular assualt is serious business.

As for safety, I am of the firm opinion that inattentive/ignorant drivers are far, far, far, FAR more dangerous than aggressive drivers who pay attention. That being said, neither is a good trait.
Good for you for not keying his car! Karma is a biatch!
But I loathe people who zip in and out of lanes. I love my car and I always do my best to avoid high risk situations. Although your driving skills might be crazy-mad-elite, drivers like you make me nervous because I have no idea what you're thinking or where you're going. What if I look down to grab my coffee while you zip in front of me and hit the brakes? This is bad news for both of us.
The guy in the SUV is an *** for doing what he did, but I can empathize with how he felt.

Equating cautions and warnings about reckless driving with the media's constant political propaganda and scare tactics is ridiculous, self-serving foolishness!
Because most of us "old timers" remember our crazy childhoods quite well, many of us lost friends in accidents, and I know I was very lucky to come thru more than one of them with only smashed and fractured ribs!
And in the last accident in my neighborhood, where after-school road racing that killed a car load of kids and an elderly woman driving a school van was caused by dumb-ass showing off, there was nothing easy to dismiss at all about that!! How did those kids die? -One of their cars ran head-on into the van, and then burst into flames!
And my dismissing that with a simple kids-will-be-kids attitude would be cruel and somewhat insane, IMO!
You think it's funny, or cute, for people to drive recklessly or to "zip in and out" of traffic? -Then I think it's you who have forgotten your younger crazier days, and not us "old timers"! -Me? I'd rather show my concern for dumb, ignorant kids by warning them and chewing out their asses when appropriate!
(-Because I was there, I was once just as dumb and ignorant, and I do remember!)
I'm sure it's mostly perception, but I always used to joke that the difference between a PA driver cutting you off and an NJ driver doing the same is just intent. The NJ driver is being a jerk, but he knew exactly what he was doing. The PA driver is simply not paying attention and may not even be aware that he is now in a different lane.
nono, you have it all wrong.
saturn drivers = people who missed out on opportunities in life... and drive exactly in that fashion.
and then there's everyone else.
hahaha.
