GE hood air duct usefulness

GE hood air duct usefulness
Given that the under-hood ducting brings air from the gap just above the radiator/condenser and that there is a structural member in front preventing air from being pulled from the grille, would there be a benefit to punching a vent/scoop into the hood and feeding the duct that way?
I found one that might work Air Flow Fender Mesh Port Holes Side Hood Vent Black-R3:eBay Motors (item 160381587409 end time Dec-02-09 11:35:41 PST) , ugly as it might be. I suppose some sort of modification to the duct to seal off the bottom of the ducting would be helpful and maybe a few strategically placed diagonal slits in the bottom surface of the duct to slough off water or holes drilled in a line with a drain under it. These stick onto the outside surface of the hood which might look horrible but I would know pretty quickly just by placing one. My car is dark but not black, dunno. I'd only attempt something like this if I thought it would benefit the car. I plan on getting the K&N intake and retrofitting a Injen filter so feeding that corner might be helpful.
Thoughts?

IMO I would just leave it alone. Anything aftermarket like that will just look junky in my opinion. Secondly if there was a better way to feed air to that under hood scoop honda would have done it.
There is already a feeder path from the lower opening in the front of the car...through this.... (part #2)
into the under hood scoop.
I don't know any other better way than getting forced air through the front of the car.
