Engine Belly Pan

With the recent Snow Storm that dump around 20 cm of snow in Calgary,
the belly pan my 09 sport model was seared off by the icy ridge formed on the road. Why is the pan comes off so easily. I was wondering if this is covered by the warranty. I got it new less than 3 months ago.

You should have a warranty booklet in the same pouch with your manual. Check your insurance. Honda won't cover repairs due to damage.

Are you talking about the shield under the gas tank? Maybe it saved your gas tank.

Looks like an inexpensive part $45US full retail (#24 in illustration)

This piece of guard is located beneath the engine, just after the radiator.
Sorry I do not have picture. Not sure if it is the gas tank guard. I thought the gas tank is located under the driver seat.
Any way thanks. I'll have the dealer look at it.

Think it's #5. Still not too expensive. Probably an hour labor to clip it on.

our cars look like they should have a "belly pan" but they do not. The indention and tabs are there for one but it does not come with one from the factory. Not sure why it is like that.

Heh I'm in Edmonton and it makes me erk every time I hear the snow scraping along the bottom...but I have to say that I didn't have my pan fall off (at least I don't recall it falling off :P). You should call and ask, you have nothing to lose....

Yeah, I don't know what part you're talking about. There's the plastic piece in front of the engine/tranny and the thing protecting the gas tank behind that... The engine and tranny aren't covered by anything in my GD3, so the only pan to take out would be the oil pan and I think you'd know. I imagine this wouldn't have changed with the new generation but I could be wrong.
