Angry All Four Sport Rims STOLEN: Need some huge help!

Hi All-

I awoke this morning to my neighbor at the door telling me that all four of my 09 Fit Sport Rims had been stolen overnight; check out the pic attachment for some sad looking pictures. Happy New Year to me!

I do have full insurance coverage, as well as HondaCare, however here comes the predicament: HondaCare's agents will not tow my car to the closest dealer for replacement without four wheels on the car (or shall I say they will tow my car, but I was advised by the tow truck guy that it will destroy the undercarriage and I would have to sign a damage waiver). All the local dealers don't have any Fit rims in stock (Sport or otherwise); so I can't go that route either.

So given the above I only have one option, get four donuts to put on the car to get it to the dealer. All the local dealers don't have donuts in stock (only rims) so I'm thinking of hitting up junk yards tomorrow looking for donuts.

Here is the question for the forum; does it make a difference what donuts I get for the car as long as its a 4 bolt pattern? I called one junkyard today which told me that had nothing that would fit a Fit, which makes me think that I need a specific pattern. Is that the case, and if so what is the pattern I need? Anyone have any suggestions to getting to the dealer?

Thanks everyone, and be sure I will be buying after-market wheel locks for the rims after this incident (supposedly around this area the stock wheel locks have been opened and stolen as well).

wow... that is horrible. eff theives.

good luck with everything.

anything with a 4x100 bolt pattern and 15-18 inch rims should fit.. at least temporarily until you get everything back to normal

That sucks man. Where do you live in PA? Are you saying Honda won't replace them under your warranty without seeing the car in person at their dealership? If not, just buy yourself a jack, pick up the wheels with a friend, and put them on yourself.

Honda will not cover anything stolen from your Fit. Your insurance, however, will. I assume you've contracted your agent or insurance company. Call your dealer and have them fax a price quote to your agent for four of your wheels, four 185 55 16 Dunlops, four center caps, four tpms sensors, twenty lug nuts and labor to mount, balance and reprogram the tpms sensors. It will probably be somewhere around $2000-2500 US. Your dealer can probably have all the parts the day after your insurance approves the claim, the tires might take a day or two longer. In the mean time, if you have rental coverage get a rental car. If you need part numbers I can get you them.

Once the dealer gets all your parts they can assemble them, balance the assemblies and you can come get the wheels, put them on the car and drive the car in with the new parts to have the sensors programmed. Unless your dealer is an anomaly, they've dealt with something like this before.

V/R

Sucks, just a matter of time before 09+ wheels started getting stolen.

Generally, anything Honda and 4x100 will fit. Nissan wheels 4x100 will fit too, but be careful of the center bore size. When you get the new wheels, get some locks on that.

Sorry to hear about your loss man. So you said you didn't have any locks on it or did they defeat the OEM wheel locks?

I am paranoid as you so I installed 3 sets of locks, 1 OEM and 2 different gorilla sets. You can get them for under 20$ from amazon. These are the ones I got: Amazon.com: Gorilla Automotive 38431N Honda Ball Seat Wheel Locks (12mm x 1.50" Thread Size): Automotive
and these: Amazon.com: Gorilla Automotive 61631 Acorn Guard Locks (12mm x 1.50" Thread Size) - Pack of 4: Automotive

Good luck with your new wheels.

Locks will not help, if they wanted your wheels.

Couple of owners in this forum have their wheels stolen even with locks. Thief simple broke their window and found the key.

That really sucks! I'm sorry. Hope you get rims that you like. This is a good reminder for all of us to pay the extra $15-$40 every 6 months for a $0 or $50 comprehensive deductible. (more or less depending on where you live) It hardly costs more than wheel locks.

Lug nut locks

I feel more confident in having them installed on my car. You can hide the "master key" for them.

wow, sorry to see this.

hope you can find a good garage spot after you get your replacements. locks dont do much as deterrent, to tell you the truth.

that's terrible.

perhaps you can check out the PA forum to see if a kind soul has any wheels they're willing to let you borrow while you work your situation out.

...and if this happened to me, i'd look at it as an opportunity to upgrade wheels. stock wheels are expensive if you buy them from the dealership. that will give you a lot of insurance money to play around with, might even get you nice wheels and a cup kit.

good luck.

Check Craigslist and see if you can buy your rims back. You never know, has to be someone local and they gotta do something with it.

This happened almost a year ago. I think the OP probably had this resolved by now

Welcome to the forums, though!

Since this thread has already been brought to life... don't think wheel locks are undefeatable.

The OEM and even most of the brand names can be beaten. I won't tell you how, but suffice it to say, the only Gorilla product I want, they don't offer the correct type for Honda owners, Gorilla Guard (NOT Guard IIs). They have a free spinning outer sleeve (that should be a clue on how to beat the OEM locks).

I'd stick with 13, 14, or 15's. Leave 16,17, and 18 out. If you're lucky that junkyard will have old tires on them.
If your insurance company agrees on price you could sub aftermarket alloys at lower cost than stocks. then put wheel nut locks on your wheels.
